Absoutely Nothing To Do With Disney But...

I know there's a wealth of knowledge on SGT so I thought I'd ask here. Christians consider Sunday their day of rest and those of the Jewish faith consider Saturday as theirs. What do other faiths consider as their day of rest?
Thanks in advance for your input.

Seventh-Day Adventists and a couple others also have Saturday as their day of rest. Actually, the Jewish Sabbath begins at sundown Friday and ends at sundown on Saturday. As far as I know, there are no other faiths that hold any other day of the week as being a day of rest.

Thanks! That's a big help.

Long-time lurker jumping in here to say - I had a business trip to the UAE this past April, and the weekend there was Friday - Saturday, so I believe the Muslim day of rest is Friday. OK, just checked with one of my Muslim friends, and she confirmed that it's Friday.

Thanks! Does that mean their work week is Sunday to Thursday?

Looking for a new religion for better working hours?

Neither. I'm dealing with a wingnut that wants ABSOLUTE quiet on Sundays within our homeowner's association. He has a very narrow view of the world and will not allow for people whose workweek is non-traditional (imagine that at a major tourist destination) or religions that don't observe Sunday as the Sabbath.
With the responses I've gotten here and some other info I've gathered about measurement of Sound Pressure Levels, I should be able to blunt his arguments.

Tell him your a devil worshipper and you have to party on sundays to honor you diety and since we all get freedom of religion he cant bitch about it. Thats what hes claiming anyway.
Become a witch and practice in your back yard all night Saturday night and throw it in his face.
Or if you want more mainstream go Jewish and tell him he has to be quiet on Saturdays.
Or Muslem and go for Fridays, blow the prayer horn 5 times a day, he will probably get pissed just because of the religion not to mention the annoyance.
