I am tired and need to get away from mom and the computer. I am at the age I should be on trips but mom wont go. I plan to go to the sweepstakes convention in San Antonio.
I will fly out on August 27th or 28th but do not have airfare yet. That is about $280 right now.
I will stay at the Days Inn about 4 miles east of Riverwalk and have no idea how I will get there. No money for food probably either.
I got the room for $300 minus some pennies.

not bad and I will have enough points for a free stay after this one.
I need transportation and cheap food that is celiac safe. I am crazy. I wish I could me some of you Texans but probably wont. I love and miss sweepstaking so am slowly going back to that. I want to go to Fiesta and SeaWorld there. That will be the end of the month and I get paid on the first and third,
Also needed is respite care.
I am going crazy here and am cooped up in the house feeling guilty for not taking her places. I need a break.
Will update when I know more.
hugs
Laurie

Hey, Churchy, I have to take care of my mom, too. But she can drive, and walk around, just not real long(COPD). I have to do piddly little things she can't do, usually involving bending over, opening containers, fixing her food, fetching water, etc.. Sometimes when we go grocery shopping she sits in the car and sends me in with the list, coupons and money. I'm grateful I don't have to bathe, dress or feed her.
Definately you should get respite care, Churchy. I wish I could, but mom is so suspicious of strangers. With no money, where would I go? Yeah, I could go to B&N and browse, or stroll through the local mall and walk through the stores, but that gets old after awhile. Besides, if you stay too long in the stores, or visit too often without buying, you start to pick up on a subtle negative vibe. Like "Buy something or get out."
I think the airlines are shooting themselves in the foot by charging all these fees and not serving food. Hope you can get away, and if your mom won't or can't go don't feel guilty. You deserve to get away from time to time--it's good for you.

Hey Churchy, San Antonio is a bit far of a drive for me and Wombat, but you'll enjoy it :)

You dont wuva me any more, cries, you wont see me. Think of the quality guy bonding time you could have together. You could help churchy on her freedom trip by buying her lunch. Wombat could donate to the Freedom Trip by singing. Churchy would not have to go to amusement parks after all the entertainment. I now wait to see how low a fare i can get on plane tickets.

I am staying instead at the Marriot next to Rivercenter and on Riverwalk.
I need a roommate and cheap airfares.
I need a break from her and as usual I am running from her.
It is only 4 days and I rather be at WDW Pleasure Island with my friends.
Right now the biggest worry is the airfare as I need to pay it NOW before i run out of money. Thanks for putting up with me.

I am flying out of LAX about 6 am on the 27 of august and return late on August 31st on American Airlines. I have to get transport which is $12 or $24 in San Antonio.
Tracey will watch mom Wed through Friday and she will be alone unless people from the restaurant will come by. I am hoping to pay someone $25 a day to pop in a couple hours at 5:30 am and 5:50 pm with dinner.
SGT
The lady who offered me a concierge room with 4 other ladies used a debit card that expired June 30th. I have brain quirks so I did not feel comfortable so I kept my room. Now I have to find her 3 roommates and get them into my room. I have to fight with Marriot as corporate number says $125 flat rate and the website for the convention says $200 for 4 people. SCREAM. It should be on the reservation.
The lady is hoping to borrow a friend's car, stay with her and she plans for us to go to SeaWorld on Thursday and get back by 7 PM convention. We can register on Wednesday. She can get us free tickets woot.
I wish I could have extended this trip to WDW for 4 days to meet everyone and see Pocahantas and Pleasure Island but that is not possible. I would have to change nonrefundable tickets and win the lottery. So much for dreams.
I need $600 or $950 cash for the room at the time of check in. If the ladies pay in advance and I do not spend money next month that is likely done.
Transportation to and from airports.
Prayers
Miracles
Someone to watch mom.
Organize my house and figure what I need like clothes.
Decide if I should take a wheelchair.
Someone to talk me out of this foolish dream.
I just updating and in no way asking for hel0p or money, would never ever do that,
hugs

back to square one. I cannot change the dates on the plane tickets or it will cost $135 or more.
The woman suddenly had a wedding that weekend and her friends found rooms despite knowing my situation.
No car, SeaWorld and no way to pay for the room probably.
I doubt the tax initiative thing will go through.
IF I get a room it would be outside of town nearly and require $280 minimum and transportation. I am so screwed up and if I had done it my way and not wanted luxury then I would have been in a cheap motel and having fun. I do not want to beg, borrow or steal but right now I have airfare to San Antonio and money for food and getting to and from the airport. I will try to find someone locally to help me with that.
dreams are dashed.
Worse is I could have flown to WDW, had dear Wallaby and friends to help me out and escort me in parks. I would have been so much happier. Stuck in Dallas if I skip the convention or San Antonio if I go.

I finally just went and reserved a room on I-10 for about $190 and a car for about $120. I will have the freedom to drive up to the bakery and it will cost me $310. I so wanted that luxury room but all I need is a shower or bath and my fancy spa stuff. Ok I did concede to some luxury, giggles. I got a discount on the sebring so I am getting it for about $15 total more a 4 door car with room for luggage and the wheelchair.
I now will have to figure out if I am taking the chair would be needed. I would save on a cab to the bakery and from the airport. It would be $50 for Wednesday and Thursday for parking which would be offset by the airport to hotel costs. The other days will be after my check comes in.I finally just went and reserved a room on I-10 for about $190 and a car for about $120. Um, Churchy, are you aware you double posted in your post? Either you're so excited about going that you wrote it twice, or your computer has hiccups.

I am not sure, depends on the times, lol. Was trying to update the trip info on 4 boards. I have a car so how far is it to Wombat's house? Not much to do in San Antonio but the zoo, gardens, and alamo.
Anyone wanting to meet and greet I will be in San Antonio the 27 to 31st and am free all day the 28 to about 5 pm and evenings after 5 pm. Now to hunt down the lawyer and make him sing. I will bring supper, lol.
It is crazy right now and I read the airline tickets, $150 to change anything but seating. Even if I wanted to stay a day later it would cost $150. If I had flown to Austin i would have been about $70 cheaper but not cheap enough to pay for bus, sigh.
big hugs Felinefan.
