Buzz Lightyear has blasted off to Infinity and Beyond!

Post by dancinghomer » Sat May 31, 2008 4:28 pm

I don't know if anyone saw this, but one of the components of todays Space Shuttle launch was a 12 inch figure of Buzz Lightyear. He was being sent up there to help with the educational aspect of the space station. Here is the press release from NASA about his trip: Press Release

Also, on the shuttles page on the NASA website, there is a little promo video of his trip on the right side under the multimedia section.

Light travels faster than sound. Perhaps that is why people appear bright until they open their mouth.

If you think it was pretty from Texas, imagine how good it looked from my backyard!

I went onto the section of the site that has the games for it geared toward education. Very cute and a few actually challenging. There is even a radio broadcast from Buzz from the blastoff. LOL

It was neat for us. We watched the initial part of the launch on TV, then stepped outside and watched it happen with our own eyes. Always beautiful when they go up.

I can't wait for the next craft, though...

I missed it. :(

I wasn't sure what time it launched and couldn't check until I got home. I checked but got busy around the house and forgot about it.

I missed it by 15 minutes -- and then spent the next half-hour watching the replays from various angles! Awesome.

I love watching the shuttle take off, I have only been lucky to be close to it a couple of times. Most of the time just watch it from my street. It is an amazing thing to see for sure. And to think our little buddy Buzz is up there having the time of his life reporting to Star Command is pretty funny. Nothing like some great publicity to get the ToyStory gang back in the public eye! Love it!

Disney should have gotten a shot of Woody and they others in the stands watching the shuttle launch!

That's what CGI is for.
