Stupid Guest Tricks

For all you old-timers that may have worked at Knott's (or historians like myself who researched certain attractions back to their birth-dates), I found an old site full of original/vintage shots of what the park used to look like, along with several shots of my ride: The Calico Mine Ride.

Other photos include Gay's Lion Farm in El Monte, Cawston Ostrich Farm in Pasadena, Universal Studios (Circa 1960's), and the now defunct Movieland Wax Museum, which was right near Knott's. It then carries on to 1960's shots of Los Angeles, Hollywood, NorCal, and even Death Valley. Quite honestly just a random collection of very old vintage pictures. It was really neat for me to find the cache of old Mine Ride shots. Mine Ride was my favorite attraction to work on, and it's really cool to see what it looked like back in the day. And I won't be surprised if this topic sinks like a dead rock...but hey, I tried.

Interesting photos there. I haven't been to Knotts in a long time. I probably wouldn't recognize any of it :/

Thanks for sharing that, Freak. I grew up in LA and I remember a lot of those places.

Love all those pictures! I mentioned in another thread we used to go all the time to KBF when I was little.....actually remember my grandma telling me in 1968 "they charge admission to go in there now". Remember seeing the Movieland Wax museum everytime from the car on the way. I asked my mom if she remembered the alligator farm across the street (she did).
*Sigh* It takes me back.
I think that is why I love Disneyland, too. Feel just like a kid everytime I go :)

Some of them remind me of the first trip to KBF in 1971, after I had my first visit to Disneyland!

Movieland wax museum was just south of Po Folk's resstaurant which is south of Outback restaurant. oh tears to see so many past fond memories. sigh

Is the Movieland building still standing? I heard a couple years ago right after I moved out of SoCal that they were going to put up a Best Buy there but that plan got killed. I used to go to that Starbucks in front of the museum (wasn't that the museum gift shop at one time?).

Ah, well at least I know where that Best Buy they were going to put there ended up. They knocked down an old bowling alley up in Orange on Tustin, it's opening this July. :p:
