I'm not sure where to put this, but there are two errors in the disclaimer on the main page. It says,

Note that there are two extra apostrophes. Horrors! Can anybody fix this?

I feel your pain! However, seeing how I, Ms. Matterhorn, Spelling Nazi, got slapped for complaining about another poster's spelling, my advice to you is bite the bullet and ignore the apostrophes.

I've been a similar situation on another board. It's patently obvious that almost no one reads what they've written before hitting the send button. :(

This poem may help to prove the point that we often do read things phonetically, but it also helps to expose the major flaw of spell check

To sum things up, the brain uses three methods for reading and comprehending words. Sometimes it can interpret words or sentences by using only one or two of the methods (usually this is when mistakes could occur) but by using all three methods together, the brain is more apt to correctly identify and properly understand a word’s or sentence’s intended meaning. By no means do I consider myself an expert on the brain’s functioning, but the next time that you see something spelled wrong; please don’t blame me, blame my brain.

Ms. Matterhorn, I was not attacking you in any way in that other thread. I agree with you, spelling and grammar errors drive me up a wall, and I know the pain. All I took issue with was the delivery. I have no problem with pointing out things like spelling errors, but I do have a problem with the practice when it sounds to me like a put-down... even if it wasn't meant as such.

Thought we were past that little episode. Apparently, not.

LOL@Chip. I had seen that sentence in the past too and knew from going to school for advertising at one point (couldnt afford to get the degree-another story) that most of the time people tend to NOT EVEN SEE small words like "of" and "to" and "and" for that matter.

That is why when you see well done billboards along the highway they dont include small, insignificant words like that. We were told that when designing a billboard ad, the person reading it should be able to read and comprehend the entire thing in the span of a second or so. Pretty much the time it takes to drive by it. I cant stand some of the ones that have a freakin' novel on them "WHAT DID THAT SAY AGAIN?" Let's turn around and drive by it 3 more times till I can read it. Personally signs like that on the road have been bugging me worse lately cause I guess I am getting old and dont see as well as I used to as quickly.

Actually, I reported this thread so that we can get the front site fixed. It's been so long since I looked at all that stuff, I appreciate the comments from someone who has seen it more recently.
