This has to be one of the coolest things I'd ever seen. The vidographer had apparently taped a special the lens of special glasses that magically transforms all points of light into snowflakes. Gives it a truly magical feel ...

For several years they have used these lenses in glasses that are given out at the Osborn Family Lights at the studios at xmas time. One year I got glasses that had snowflake images around every bright dot, and one year they were angels. It wouldn't be hard to stick one of the lenses over the lens of a camera. The only problem that would happen is if the camera lens is larger than the lens of the glasses. A small P&S (Point and Shoot) camera would have a small enough lens, while a full size video camera or a SLR still camera lens would be much too large for the glasses to provide enough coverage. On the other hand, since the special lens material is made from a sheet of plastic it is possible that the material may be available in larger sheets or filter sizes.

You can get filters for camera's that do this, cross screen or star filters are the name I believe. They hit the highlights, so if you have a subject with bright sun reflecting off something shiny, it can create that star effect on there.
