Stupid Guest Tricks

Hey guys, I've been surfing the forums for a while, and my favorite pages are when people add a bunch of personal experiences to the thread.

So, I'm curious, what are the most outrageous 101s that you've had to deal with on the job or heard about from other CMs?

Define "outrageous?"

One time, HISTA was down for 7 HOURS!!!! It gotten so bad that some guests had Jungle call us to see if we were open yet, lol!! The problem was that we had problems with our projector.

Also, another time, I heard that one of the CMs was driving the monorail and he couldn't hear anything over the radio, so he E - Stopped it and announced over the PA system for one of the guests to call Tomorrowland Central and tell them that he is stuck. Apparently, the CM turned the radio volume really low.

Also, I broke HISTA!! :D The show was paused for the last show and as I was about to press the "Run" button, my arm accident hit the Show Stop/ E - Stop and the show turned off. Oops, Luckily, it was the last show. Unfortunately, there were two guests, :(

Hmm, I say outrageous like what bizarre reason caused the 101 in the first place? For instance, I've heard of guests climbing out of car in dark rides and screwing things up..

The craziest one we ever had involved a guest dropping an empty child "leash" into the flume at the station. The leash got caught on a load sensor and when the boat's guide wheel went by it ripped off the sensor. The ride auto e-stopped due to a load sensor fault. I powered down and back up and it auto e-stopped again! I called maint and kept trying to recover. In the end I had 12 auto e-stops. We were just about to evacuate when maint figured a way to manually cycle out the ride under maint mode. I helped dump the queue while they were cycling out. They dammed off the station, drained it and replaced the sensor. We were down for 4 hours!!!

Also both theaters of Soarin' have gone 101 simultaneously due to Signal 25s (fire alarms) and simultaneous carriage faults. You haven't seen angry people until they dump a 2 hour queue. YIKES!!!

This isn't an outrageous 101 but what happened next was pretty funny. The CM in the Matterhorn tower was watching the lift camera and saw some SG take his seat belt off. So the CM stopped the lift, and we cycled the ride out. The tower CM used the all-mountain mike to give the 101 spiel. A supervisor came up and asked what happened. The CM didn't realize the mike was still on, and his reply, "Some asshole took his seatbelt off" echoed all over Fantasyland.

Here's another: A well-endowed female CM leaned out the tower window to indicate to the CM below a sled that needed help. She pressed the E-stop with her boob! From then on we called it the D-stop.

I remembered another Matterhorn 101. A kid came down to unload in a sled and told the CM "My hat fell off!" The CM thought he said "My DAD fell off!" and hit the E-stop! We teased him about that for a long time!

Mine would have to be the day the white rhinos took and lifted the back end of a safari truck off the ground a couple inches, and just about took care of removing the bumper.

I was in the break room when this happened. The conversation that ensued consisted of most of us agreeing: "Damn, why couldn't that have been my truck?" If you have to have a Signal 4, make it one that can't possibly be your fault, one where no one gets hurt, and it's a completely unique experience that only the people on that truck will ever experience, until Disney comes out with an attraction where it happens, but in the attraction of course, it's only a simulation.

This one happened at Philhar. When I worked FLand in 04, Philhar had all kinds of issues with the Proscenium Arch. The arch is not one piece (that would make too much sense), but three pieces: the top and two sides. All three are supposed to raise and lower simultaneously. For some reason, the right side either fails to raise or fails to lower, which means we have to call maintenance, fix it, and do a test run.

On the day in question, we were doing the test run, and the film ripped in half! How does that even happen? We had to fly the film in from somewhere because we didn't have any other copies of the new film. (The old film did not match the timing of the effects, so we didn't have the option of using it). We were down from about 10 in the morning to 9 or 10 at night if I remember correctly. I got to tell lots of guests that we were down and had no foggy idea when we would be back up. This was when it was the newest and highest rated attraction in all WDW, people were not happy.
