Stupid Guest Tricks

So I recently joined another board (not Disney related.) For the most part the people are very knowledgeable about the particular topic, nice, and give great advice. However, that being said, there is a certain number of people who seems to have their heads up their...hinies. They are just the epitome of rude. Flame wars appear to be incredibly common. There are at least several threads a day with topics like, "which posters do you not like?". People will actually post the names of posters and talk about how much they hate them! As if nobody can read. Several people got mad at me when I said that I felt certain lewd comments and insinuations about my relationship with my boyfriend were inappopriate. People threw a fit over that and actually started a whole thread about it! I ended up apologizing to the person who started the comments on my thread because I didn't realize that she was joking. However, I don't think I should have to defend the fact that we are private people with certain values and frankly certain topics are very inappropriate if you do not know the person. I know the internet offers anonymity, but is that any reason to throw any type of decorum out the window? Thanks for letting me vent! :soap:

Don't feel too bad, people make assumptions all the time about posters, and usually they are 100 percent wrong!

I notice that a lot of people that post on boards seem to have "agendas" and if you are not totally in agreement with them, then they are aginst you completely!

These are the same posters that demand you "listen" to their opinions, but when you express yours, or a different take of a situation, will lambast you for yours. (kind of the whole idea of "discussion" boards is to discuss aspects of topics, don't you think?)

I have registered on a lot of boards, and have dropped off many of them, as they are simply to strange to waste my time on!

The SGT, for the most part, is one that I like because besides discussing SG's, most people posting here support DLR and WDW, and attending the parks with great enthusiasm! Something that I enjoy!

It is nice to be at the disabilities section of disboard and to be here as both are well patrolled and the people very civil. Both have helped me in my life and I have friends there.

I quit going to most other boards as they had too much bad stuff.

Just goes to show, again, how special this SGT community is. Not only are flame wars not permitted by the rules, they are considered in bad taste by the regulars here and discouraged socially as well. Especially considering that this is a website set up for venting about stupidity, this is a remarkably kind and caring group of people here!

AWWWW! I am feeling so much love around here. It is permeating the atmosphere. LOL

Actually the snarky stuff is why I no longer post on evil board x, that and the fact that I was banned permantly then changed to temporarily for something silly. I had asked them to please remove my account. I dont know if they ever did since I never logged in again and dont intend to. I do still have contact with a few folk on there and read to get info and keep up on things but refuse to post. A local board was the same way and I stopped posting on there. Too many favoritisms (unless you paid for ads, you were ignored-small town mentality). I eventually called the guy who owns it at home and told him to remove my account.

I love it here. You can speak your mind (within reason) and if someone doesnt like it, they just skip your post and go on with their lives.

True, the IGNORE feature is wonderful!!!

I quit posting on several boards, as they seem to creep to strange "in jokes" and other cliques. The SGT, on the whole, seems to have the more level headed people on it. (Okay maybe not Wombat....Hmmmm?)

The nice think about SGT is that besides making sport of SG's, is that there is truely some good information and ideas here! (plus examples of what not to do!)

SGT is wonderful! I have been a member of several other boards, moderated one, and admin one. In the other boards I have been on this behavior has never been considered acceptable and was squashed immediately. I guess I just figured adults would know how to be polite. I guess I was wrong.

I belong to many Disney boards, and they are great....for the most part. However, there are times when it's like WW3 breaking out on a couple of them. The topics that do it are strollers, cutting in line, reuseable mugs, and so on. It gets to be very rediculous at times.
