DL Opinion Needed

My DL Adventure By Disney is just a bit more than a month away, and I'd really appreciate some opinions. The trip ends in the morning, but our flight isn't until late evening. Would it be worth it to get DL/DCA passes for that last day, or would it be better to save the $$ and just wander around Downtown Disney? We'll probably get to see a lot on our prior two days since some sort of special Fastpass is supposed to be a part of the trip. But I think there is some kind of festival going on (week of April 22) so it might be worth going into the parks for that. Any guidance is appreciated!

I would hit the parks, DTD in California is much smaller than Florida and unless your really into shopping it will only take an hour or so of your time. I think its the California version of food and wine during that time at DCA if memory serves me but since it often doesnt dont quote me on it. Get a hopper and hit DL at opening, you can do a lot in the first few hours, then head to DCA and do your favorites then back to DL until you have to leave. If you can try to add the extra day onto your package.

Get in early as you can and head for the train station. The train leaves at opening and will dump you in New Orleans. On your left is Splash Mountain and Haunted Mansion, ahead is Tom Sawyer Island. Doubling back you can pick up Pirates then you have the options:
Jungle Cruise the Big Thunder then up the trail to Fantasyland.
Big Thunder then Jungle Cruise then across the hub to Tomorrowland.
Big Thunder to Fantasyland on your left if you face the entrance or right to the hub and from there to exits or across to Tomorrowland.
You can skip both Big Thunder and Jungle Cruise and catch a train to Tomorrowland.
DCA is undergoing construction. Go right to Soaring the around to the raft ride. From there up a block to a central area. The exit and Bugs Land on the left as is the Wharf with food and bakery exhibition. Ahead and to the right is the pier section and California Dreaming, whoopie goldberg show, me sleepless here.
at the entrance you can go left to Tower of Terror and the Monsters ride. It is a dead end and you have to double back. Or used to be.

On your left is Splash Mountain and Haunted Mansion, ahead is THE EYESORE on what was the best and funnest place in the park. Doubling back you can pick up Pirates then you have the options:

The pirate island is fun, and this is based on memories I had of TS island as a kid where we spent lots of (spare) energy running around while our parents waited and hoped we'd get tired out (suckers!).
I'd go to the parks, Disneyland is THE original, I love it. Now I miss it.
take me with you
please

Well, since you are going to be there for two days prior, I would just go to Disneyland, and go to the attractions that you either missed due to crowds, or want to experience again. That way you are not rushed to 'see everything" in a few hours.
One of the "benifits" of having an AP, is that we know we can come back, so we are not rushed to see and do everything in one or two days. So if an attraction is crowded, and we don't want to do a fastpass, we move on to something else. And we are not running a breakneck speed to get to the next attraction. It is much more enjoyable to go at a slower pace, and take in the atmosphere of Disneyland! Plus you can interact with the CM's if not rushed, maybe even meet some that "might" post here!!
YMMV!

I think we're going to definitely to another day in the parks if the info. I'm hearing is correct (supposedly we'll be able to add the day for $20 a head...seems reasonable). In theory we should have most of what we want done in the first two days because ABD is supposed to include a "special" FP. In practice, no one knows what that means. I've heard stories ranging from something similar to a media pass, where it's good all day, to three FPs given to each of us. For what we're paying for ABD, it better be more than 3! I know Nemo isn't FP, so that way we can just break butt to get over there that last morning and give it ago.

Hit Nemo on an early entry morning. You'll get on the ride fast and you can participate in the Running Of The Nemos.
