PAC Shift...

So I grabbed a PAC shift for next Thursday (the 20th) and I've never done it before. How does it work? They told me to grab the Main Street PAC uniform which is the conductor I assume. I have to meet somewhere in Liberty Square. Which CDS do I use to clock in? Any help you guys can give is greatly appreciated!

Main Street PAC is soooo much fun. I absolutely love getting the shifts.

You help keep the guests watching the parade under control. Make sure they sit where they are supposed to, keep them out of where they are not, and so on.

Let me offer you the exact same training I received for PAC many years ago: "Don't worry, you'll do fine."

Yeah, that was it. Shortages in the training budget again.

Seriously, the costume is the same as the Conductor, except no hat (unless you've earned one). Clock in at any CDS terminal--I like the Fantasyland Merch location right where the tunnel first forks. If it won't accept your login, ask the staff there where to go, they're used to it.

The key to a smooth PAC shift (other than getting a non-moron coordinator) is to talk to your guests *before* the parade starts. Ropes are needed, "PACtivities" are okay, but I found that just walking my section of the street, saying "Hi!", reminding folks that strollers without flashing lights must be kept on the sidewalk or behind the rope, explaining to folks near crosswalks how keeping them clear is a safety issue. Get all this communicated before the first float rolls and you won't have to try to do it during the parade (quite so much).

Oh, and expect some of your fellow CMs to disappear. That's normal, and if one had been near you, do your best to cover both areas. It sucks, but they won't let us put ankle bracelets on them (yet).

I assume you already know that any given toddler can take off in any random direction and speed at any time.

Let me reaffirm this :) Typically it happens when large objects are rolling toward you (and usually right as you set them down or let go of their hand).

Too bad you can't hand out those kid leashes before the parade starts...

Or hot glue the sidewalk so people remain seated instead of popping up and standing in front of people.

The amount of dirt on the sidewalks will prevent the hot glue from sticking, I suggest nailing them down. You will need this:

Ramset Cobra .27 Caliber Semi-automatic Tool*

* Possession of such tool may or may not be legal in the State of California, but we carry them like six shooters in Texas :D:

I am soooo sad right now. I just saw on the HUB that all Main Street PAC shifts are now attractions trained!! :( Why would they do this? PAC was never trained before.

Now they only untrained PAC shifts are the Riverwalk (or whatever it's called) in Frontierland/Liberty Square.

Yeah I found that weird too! I am working in the middle of the day so I am going to be REALLY hot in those long sleeves... I wish I could roll them up.

The PAC costume has a short sleeve option, and a vest ... no need to wear long sleeves and the jacket
