I have to agree, look at where Disney was 5 years ago and where it is today.

Five years ago, Disney was on the verge of no longer doing animation, DL and WDW were falling apart at the seams, ABC was not doing well, and the company was on the verge of being bought by Comcast.

Today, Walt Disney Feature Animation has been restored to the heart of the company along with Pixar, DL (and probably WDW :p :) have never looked better (though I can do without this whole global "DisneyParks" thing), ABC has some of the most popular shows on the telly, and the CEO of Comcast is crying "Uncle" in the media

Iger does indeed rule :D:

Sounds like he is well respected in the business world and has done great things for Disney. After what Eisner did for years, he is a breath of fresh air!
I hope he continues to do good and make Duisney even better!
Go Bob!

Iger is so much better for Disney than Eisner ever was. Eisner was running the company into the ground. Sadly we'll still feel the repercussions of the Eisner era for years to come while Disney works to rebuild what he destroyed.

I'm upset by the fact that Eisner did away with hand-animation and closed down the animation studio here in Florida. I doubt it'll ever come back though, all the hand-animators are long gone.

It seems to me one of Eisner's big problems in regards to the parks was that he was more concerned with the profit line than creating magic. Look at DCA, designed and built under Eisner and now is having to be almost totally redone. That's in part because instead of creating new experiences they bought pre-built things. It was built on the cheap. It is also because they included things that Walt never wanted to see in his parks (ferris wheels for instance). I am glad that Disney is now putting money into the park and redoing it. DCA is no Disney park, it is an amusement park but that is being fixed and when they are done it sounds like it will be an asset to the Disney name instead of a detriment.

Iger appears to be working hard to turn Disney around and make it the leader in animation, theme parks, etc. again.

I agree; Eisner's top concern was the bottom line, which in reality is fine for a corporate CEO. He didn't do terribly during the first bit of his reign either. The problem was the way he micro-managed everything he could get his hands on. You may remember the story about Eisner sitting in on the WDI meeting that determined the smell of the Yeti. It's pretty clear he had better things to spend his time on. Iger seems content giving the professionals in their respective business units the resources to do what they need to do and spending his time dealing with the larger issues.

There's a difference between showing an interest and being a micro-manager and I think, so far, Iger has that balance down.
