I doubt it was to big of a deal. There's nothing I can find on the Sentinel's site and they report everything big that goes down at WDW.

Well, I am from north GA and Chattanooga news was covering it so I figured it had to be some-what big.

I remembered reading something on another board to the effect that someone was calling Resort Hotel rooms and offering some sort of special dining deal. Then they'd ask the guest for their credit card number, and the idiots actually were giving it to them!
Supposedly Disney has since been leaving notes in the guests' rooms informing them to beware of this scam.

Wow, it almost sounded like a take off on the YOMD! Kinda scary, as I stay at the Poly when I go! Hmm, wonder if it IS a CM looking at "records" and accounts? Could they do that without someone noticing?

I'm actually at WDW right now typing this (until Mar. 9 - woo!) and I saw this in our room. They had a little sheet saying something to the effect of "Cast Members will never ask you for this information over the phone."
It reminded me of the AOL messages saying, "AOL will never ask you for your personal information." It made me think, "Well, something must have happened that would make them do this!"
But then again, I remembered from my job that there just happens to be a lot of fraud in this part of the country. No offense to FL or any FL'ians, because I've had some great times down here, but a lot of our fraudulent orders happen to have shipping addresses in this state...

I read this also, when are people going to learn not to give out cc info unless they are the ones that initiate the call to a place they trust.

South Florida has historically been home to many spammers as well :)
