the stupidity has begun already

Not even 3 weeks into my 4th CP here and I've already encountered stupidity at its finest while at work. Like people shoving their money at me all at one without waiting in line, giving me attitude when I card them for alcohol and tobacco, and little brats being grabby with the expensive merchandise. (I am a Merchandise CP at a resort, for those who don't know).

One memorable case involves carding someone for alcohol. The guest was buying a 6 pack of beer and informed me that he didn't have I.D. with him. He looked young but claimed to be 28 and gave me attitude about carding him. So I got my manager who explained the policy and the guest said he would get his passport from his room and come back for the alcohol. Well, surprise surprise, he never showed up to get it and was the reason why I couldn't immediately close down my register once the store was cleared of guests at the end of the night, since my manager was waiting at the door for him. *rolls her eyes

Now, I am only 22 and don't mind at all being carded for alcohol since I look young for my age, so why do these people throw a fit about it?

I'm betting the main people who throw fits are the ones who are underage and think because they are on vacation they can get away with it.

It was crazy for your manager to wait on the guy, he should have just locked up so you guys could go home. Stores shouldn't have to stay open past their closing time for some idiot who can't remember their ID.

Yeah, I agree with the first sentence, as that was brought up to me that night. Oh, and the other cashiers could close out but because the guy came to my register for the original purchase I had to wait to close out.

At my age I wish someone carded me. I guess it is an early bumper crop of SGs and please I love hearing the stories so that I know how good I am, lol.

That's ridiculous - and you're right, the only person who would be upset about being carded is someone who is underage. The one thing I've learned in city hall is that the faster they get loud and angry, the more likely it is they are trying to scam you, since in many places today the policy is "give them whatever they want so they'll stop causing a scene." Good for you for saying no!

This is so true. The ones who yell the loudest are usually the ones that are in the worng.

"Me thinketh that thou doth protesteth too much!"

You can tell the jags by how loud they are. Most people with a real problem will explain it well, not scream and make a scene, UNLESS someone was really hurt in the process. Then even the most compassionate of guests can lose their cool.

Way to spot an SG? Look at the person who is screaming the loudest about some sort of problem "you people at Disney caused me! And I ned compensation and I NEED IT NOW!!!!!!!"

Idiots. Grrrrrrrrrr.....

I wish they would all just pull their heads out of their asses and stay home and spend their vacation at the Truck Pulls or spend their time on Rodeo Drive. They come from all classes of folks.. LOL! :hysteria:

but Princess, you know as well as I, or the rest here for that matter, that as long as the SG is ringing the bell, he is going to eventually get his cookie!

(Pavlov would have gotten his PHD in record time studying SHG's!!)

And the funny thing is, nobody's flipped out when I asked for ID for an unsigned credit card. Weird...
