Well folks, I am assigned to work the gift shops at Port Orleans. So far, it appears that I'll mostly be at Riverside so I can't wait to receive my visitors at work. :c)

Yay! I love Riverside. I will definitely visit you if I am down in May.disneyprincess1988 wrote:Well folks, I am assigned to work the gift shops at Port Orleans. So far, it appears that I'll mostly be at Riverside so I can't wait to receive my visitors at work. :c)
I am there every single time I can (a) get time off of work and (b) get someone to pay my way.Big Wallaby wrote:Yep, I'll be by. If you see someone whom the name "Big Wallaby" just seems to fit, it will probably be either Wombat or me, and I don't know that he's coming back any time soon (although if the winds change and he does, I won't be complaining!).
BW, I showed him the picture of all of us on the Illuminations Cruise so he'll know who to look for.Big Wallaby wrote:Yep, I'll be by. I'd offer to stuff you in my luggage but my bag is packed very tightly so I could fit all my clothes in a bag I could carry on. Yes, I've already begun packing. I figured I would be working a lot this week before I leave so decided to get my main packing out of the way. My main bag is packed and I've begun packing my backpack but most of that will have to wait until closer to Thursday. I've gone so far as to measure my bag to make sure it is within the limits. It is, barely. I had to move things around and take out one or two things to get the bag within the limits.Whazzup wrote:BW, I showed him the picture of all of us on the Illuminations Cruise so he'll know who to look for.
Sure wish I could hitch a ride on that plane and come visit all of you.
Great! Sounds like you're just about ready to hop on that plane. We'll all be thinkin' about ya and rootin' for ya.Shorty82 wrote:I'd offer to stuff you in my luggage but my bag is packed very tightly so I could fit all my clothes in a bag I could carry on. I emailed BW a picture of me from my trip in July last night so he'll know who to look for too.
By my understanding that is all mostly true. Seasonal CMs only have to work a little bit and get all the benefits. The benefits include free access to the parks, a limited number of guest passes, discounts on a variety of things around WDW, and a few other things. I believe that to keep their benefits (and maybe employment) seasonal CMs have to work so much within a calendar year.Whazzup wrote:Great! Sounds like you're just about ready to hop on that plane. A friend of mine who lives near Ocala sent me this email recently and I'm wondering if it's completely accurate. CMs, please tell me if the following is true:
"There is a guy at my office that just loves Disney and he said that if you are accepted for employment you only have to work a couple weeks a year and a few weekends to get all the discounts and benefits. Of course you have to go down for interviews but he says after the interview they fit you with a job that will match your "talents." They go down there a lot of weekends so that's not a problem for him and he will just take his vacation weeks and do his two weeks."
Does it really only take a couple weeks and some weekends to get benefits? What kind of benefits? Are the discounts and benefits good for a certain time period, like one year from employment start date or something?
Thanks.
