Stupid Guest Tricks

Hi Cranbiz, I just read on another board that you're originally from MA, we live in Quincy. Are you happy about the move to FL; do you ever miss MA (probably not in the winter)? I'm curious because I am considering a move to FL somewhere in the future when the kids are in college, unless they go around here which is a real possibility. I would take my then adult autistic son with me. There are aspects of living in FL that I like and then there are others that give me pause. Are you glad you moved? Thanks, Christine

DW is from Boston, we just finished selling a house in Holbrook! When we were back there taking care of business we stayed in Quincy, had some dealings in Braintree! (Love that name!!!)

(DW also introduced me to the Friendly's chain, my favorite place!!!)

Overall, I'm happy with the move from MA to FL. One of the things that I don't miss is the cold and snow. I do miss my brothers and sisters on the fire dept. but other than that, the only thing I miss about MA is my big koi pond and fresh New England sea food.

You can keep the exise tax, income tax, high property tax, high auto insurance, democrats and Cape Cod tourists! Orlando traffic, as bad as it can be, is better than Boston traffic any day.

My brother lives in Braintree just behind Archbishop High School, I guess your wife would know where that is. I'm actually not crazy about Quincy although I did grow up here and I'm looking forward to moving when all the kids graduate high school. We are a Friendly's family, we scarf down a lot of ice cream there in the summer. We've also eaten many pity meals there as the kids' pediatrician is two doors down and I take them there to lick their wounds after a shot or the dreaded finger prick.

I could do without the cold and snow but I think I'd miss the Autumn here. It was snowing today as a matter of fact and I stepped right into one of those fabulous MA potholes up to my ankle. I didn't realize you were a fire fighter, that is a wonderful thing. Thank you. You're definitely right about the traffic and the taxes. I have to take one of my boys into MassGeneral from time to time and Franciscan Childrens Hospital and I see my life flash before my eyes every time a cab or a maniac nearly side swipes us on the expressway.

Hmmm!! I had never been there until a few years ago, then went to help her with some family business. Really enjoyed the Boston area! Loved the seafood!!! (also got "hooked" on Dunkin Donuts coffee!!)

What's summer in MA like? I've been to the Boston area three times. All were during the dead of winter. One trip had me trying to figure out how to unfreeze the car from the parking lot. Twice.

I'm from MA as well! I grew up on the South Shore and now I live in Boston. I really enjoy getting away from here sometimes, particularly during the winter. But I always like coming home and knowing that I'm back in town and back on familiar territory.

I've found a lot of Disney golf cast members with nametags from Cape Cod or the South Coast region of Massachusetts. It's nice to see so many people who are familiar with life in the cold.

Nice, depends where you are, I guess. We actually have a little beach just down the road from us and that's very nice in the summer. We also go to some very pretty lakes and ponds further south from us but the only beach we go to is in the Cape. We're planning a couple of weekend trips to Dennisport in the Cape this summer. We also go peach and strawberry picking at a farm about 40 mins. north of us in Natick and a repeat trip in the fall for apples.
We actually get quite a few tourists around here in the summer because Quincy is on the historical trail and we have several presidents homes and other historical buildings here. There are tour buses that ride through town.
There are tons of things to do in Ma during every season and it is really quite pretty here, I think so anyway. Take care, Christine

I made the move down from MA last year and have loved loving here (see my nic) .... we always vacationed @ Disney ... now my DW works for the mouse ... our only downside was moving away from family, but it's been 80 degrees the last couple of days so we get over it quick ( I do miss the strawberry fribbles and clam rolls tho ... and Kelley's roast beef)
