SG. . .germs

Okay, please allow me a moment to whine.

Why do people think it will earn them friends to post on the internet that their whole family is sick as dogs but they're trudging on to Disney come what may?

All I know is when I read those threads I get mad. Mad because a cold for me usually means at a minimum bronchitis and at worst, pneumonia. I have to travel with antibiotics just in case- and sure enough I got sick halfway through our last trip and only escaped a trip to the ER because I had them with me. Second half of the trip was pretty much a bust for me.

It's one thing if you get sick during your trip (all though if a kid has such bad stomach flu they can't make it to the bathroom 'in time' why would you drag them from the room to a THEME PARK??? Come ON how much fun can the kid be having if they're that sick???) I read a post about being sure that you carry extra clothes for your kids in case of such a situation and I just felt ill. The thought that any parent would not take such a child back to the room to tend to them just shocked me.

I get so frustrated. I know disney trips are expensive and all. But broadcasting that your family is knowingly going to be spreading flu of any sort on your trip. . .makes me want to bathe in lysol. Blech.

I know I'm deceiving myself about how many people are sick everywhere I go. But I just don't want to think about it when I'm in WDW, you know?

Sometimes people don't know when it's time to A) go to the doc and B) take a day off from touring and stay in their room for cryin' out loud!

Thanks, man that felt good.

Same thing on the Cruise Ship.

They could be half dead and they will drag them selfs on that boat. (to see how many other people they can spread it too)

I hate these SG, but I understand their problem

Problem is people have one or two weeks a year off from work (and had to put in for the time off 6 months ago) and airline tickets and trips planned 6 months in advance...money paid, they feel they have to go or lose it all.

I hate the flexibility problem when traveling and you get sick two days before your trip

Yeah, I know. . .thing is so does everybody else and one family can wipe out hundreds of other people. I can not even imagine taking a cruise.

I can sympathize but I still think if your kid is so sick they can't keep anything down/in that they belong at the hotel room, not in a theme park. . .I guess as Jack Sparrow said "They done what's right by them you can't expect more than that!"

People don't want to sacrifice any of their vacation time- I wish they'd at least teach their kids to cover their mouths when they cough! Of course from what I saw on our last vacation (and recent trips to Target as well) a lot of adults still need to learn that lesson!

THIS is one of the reasons I make sure to buy trip insurance. It's just in case something like this happens to me and I can't go-- so I can get a complete refund of all the money I've paid out for tickets and airfare and hotels, etc.. and I know that if, for any reason, I can't go, not only do I get a full refund of my trip, I also would have no trouble going to my boss and explaining I got sick and need to switch out vacation for sick time..

Yep, that's why I've been out the last couple days. The lady who came and wanted to go through the FastPass line because her daughter had a fever. Thanks for shoving her in my face (or close enough).

Nice thing is, it helps that we're working outdoors. Still... I didn't care for that fever. When you're an adult, a 103 fever is nothing to laugh at anymore.

Ummm, I thought you worked for Disney. Maybe attractions is better about those things than transportation.

BW, you gotta keep me informed. I have been sending good bus guests to KSR and having them ask for you for the two week safari. I know that they will get a show to remember.

Aww feel better Wallaby!

I found myself wondering how Cm's are ever healthy! You all must have some honkin' good immune systems most of the time! Get well soon!

Pattimelt, that is exactly what my husband said when we were talking about this thread earlier! "That's why you get trip insurance!" I can't believe I actually waffled about getting it for our next trip. No way. I'll definitely be sure to add it before our final pay off date. . .

Its a good deal!! A few years ago DW got really ill after our dinner on the first day there (Ohana!!) got so bad we called a doctor to the room. He fixed her up with some meds! Trip insurance paid for what wasn't picked up by our health insurance!! Been a believer ever since!! (on another trip it paid for an extra two days that we were stuck during a hurricane, when our flights were cancelled and had to be rescheduled!!)
