Germany's Drunken Mayor in Epcot

I was reading Wombat's Trip Report and he mentioned the train setup in the German pavilion at Epcot. My DH took the Segway Tour last month and the CM guide told some insidet stories about some of the pavilions. According to "legend" the little village in the train setup in Germany was about to be sacked and torched by enemies and the mayor of the little village tried to stop them. The enemy (whoever that was) said that if the mayor could drink a huge container of their local wine, that the village would be saved and not burned to the ground. The mayor, being the good citizen that he was, did manage to consume all the wine and thus the village was spared. However, later the mayor was found passed out drunkenly in the village.
So, next time you're admiring the elaborate train setup in Germany, be sure to look for the little figurine of the mayor, who is in an alcoholic stupor lying below the window in front of one of the buildings. I hope I got that story straight - if any of you know more details, please correct me.

Actually he is the local peeper and he looked in the window. He dropped dead of a heart attack when he saw a certain SGT member scantily clad. I think her name was Lauren :D: .
Note to self: Close the window blinds before undressing.

Huh. We didn't get that when we took the tour. But he did call the cobblestone path we rode over the "German blocks." I think I was the only one that got it though.

It's amazing the detail in the backstories they create for every little thing. Even if the details of the stories never become public, the theory is that the area/attraction/whatever will "make sense" to the guests if it has a specific history.
I missed the drunken mayor, though.

Much like the hidden Mickeys on Safari. Once you know they're there, they're hard to miss. Except the one in the red clay pit. That one, I haven't decided. I'm leaning toward not actually being a HM.

You mean this one? It was the first time we looked for it in the daytime so
we finally found it.
