Countdown to New Year

Good evening, SGT Crew,
Once again my redneck neighbors are sitting out in their backyard drinking beer and exploding illegal fireworks and scaring my horse half to death. This will go on for the rest of the evening and probably way past midnight. It depends on how much money they have invested in fireworks this year.
So, it's time for my semi-annual (New Years and 4th of July) trek to the barn to keep the horse company and reassure her it's not the end of the world. The firecrackers aren't bad from a distance, it's just that she thinks those illegal screaming rockets are flying bongos coming to attack her. I could call the police, and have done so in the past, but all they do is drive by, they don't even stop and tell the neighbors that someone has complained. :pitchfor:
I sincerely wish all the SGT crew a very happy and prosperous and SAFE New Year! Please don't be SGs tonight, or at any other time.
See you all next year. Peace!

Happy new year to you!! Hope your horse is going to be okay! Give some carrots (or sugar) You should get a guitar and sing to her like the cowboys did to the cows in the old movies!!!
I think flying bongos are pretty quiet when they are on the move, but ask BW!!

Just two hours to go on the East Coast, five on the West.
I've been sleeping very little the last week, so I am on my way to bed. Good night, and :newyear:

No Champagne here, but the hubby and I are going to celebrate at midnight Pacific time (4hours and some minutes left... counting down) with a bottle of Martinelli's Sparkling Cider. Yum yum!
It's 15 Minutes to 8 PM as I write this.

It's 5:44 PM here in Hawaii and it's almost sundown. It's been raining most of the day so we may have a fairly quiet New Year's Eve.
The news just reported a bust of over $100,000 worth of illegal aerial fireworks in Honolulu. It was a pretty big haul but you have to wonder how much was already sold. I guess we'll find out later tonight. At least there's a smaller chance of fires. July 4th and beyond is always good for some big ones.

I talked to some guests from Australia today, and they said they were called this morning from people back home, and told Happy New Year, since Australia's already celebrated NYE. I made one woman crack up and told her she should tell the people back home,"Happy New Year from yesterday" Heh

We are actually having fake wine for NYE. I dont actually like the taste of real champagne or the sparkling cider. Shoulda bought some ginger ale to make it bubble.
It is officially New Years when Dick Clark shows up and the ball drops.
Even when I was in a different time zone, I celebrated NY time
