Stupid Guest Tricks

She was in line at Plaza Inn for the Minnie and Friends character breakfast, and wanting to take photos of her daughter while waiting in line. Our policy is to seat the guest first, and then tell them that the characters will see them at their table once they are seated. Both a character host, and I tried to reason with her for a moment, and she started swearing.

A father behind her piped up."I have a three year old daughter behind you..."

She ranted a little more but the line moved quickly... She got seated and the first character to her table was Captain Hook. I'm not sure if she was there when he was, but later I walked by after seating another guest. Found out she was doing better, now that she wasn't so grumpy, and I thanked her for coming to the restaurant and to have a magical day.

I walked off to go seat more people.

Can't you just remove them for swearing in front of the little kids? that seems completely rude to do that to other peoples kids!

If I were going to have had her removed, I would first have gotten my lead involved in the incident, and if she had acted out more, then the lead would have to have gotten security. She was just grumpy and hungry and complaining without thinking of whom her audience was. One of the other members of her party said they were hungry to the point of grumbling not in her presence when I asked if the daughter had gotten some pics/autographs yet, as I passed by after seating another party of guests. The father behind her was trying to calm her down too I think.

Thats just sad. I know when we go alone, we are always aware that little ears are never far away. and with the grandkids, if a bad word slips out, the adults get a "time out" which means we have to get the next treat! (kids "RUM", ice cream etc.) (bad word being anything negative eg: gosh darn it, dang it, and so forth!! not any "swear" words)

Well, I hear and see enough at work to know that the kids don't need to be exposed to it!! Sad to say they probably hear it at school. But they tell their dad when they do!!

I see too many people who do not understand online and in real life that there are little kids as well as adults who should or do not want to here tiffs and cussing. Hugs to you and good job diffusing the situation.

The only time I swear is when I get tired, and then I swear like a sailor, but that's only under my breath, unless I know that kids are not around.

While it doesn't offend me to hear it, I've never done it with anyone but my closest friends, and then they know something's up to get me to speak in such unsavory fashion. When I am tired and in a professional situation, I make strange cracks but don't swear. So the verdict is in: I am able to control it, but when tired enough I just don't care to.

I make some of my best jokes when I haven't slept in 24+ hours...

I must admit I have sworn out loud several times, the first was when I got my finger broken when a closet door was slid on it while I was opening the opposite side of the door. My co-worker that was with me at the time started laughing, then I realized he is the one that opened the door from the opposite side!!

Yeah, certain injuries just require a four letter expletive. When I blew out my knee, or the time I broke three toes (all at once) simply saying "Oh my! That really is quite painful!" just doesn't seem to do the situation justice.

I use four letter words in lots of other situations also, but I think it's important to be able to differentiate between when it's appropriate, or at least acceptable, versus when you're in a family environment. On my last trip to WDW, my bank screwed me up one night by contacting me to see if my card had been stolen when I was purchasing a painting. The thing is, the call got disconnected when they were asking me to prove who I was. Instead of calling me back, they simply canceled my card and nearly ruined my vacation. I found a nice quiet place in Epcot away from any "innocent bystanders" and then gave a nice customer-service rep a four-letter word laden tongue lashing... Sometimes it's necessary to get your point across. :D:
