Question from a (usually) non-SG...has the "Year of a million dreams" been awful?

I've seen posts on other unnamed but well known Disney related webboards whining about not getting anything while at Disney World during the Year of Million Dreams. We were there in January and got one of the Tinkerbell pins while exiting Goofy's Barnstormer. I was over the moon!

Do you see a lot of greedy folks because of this or are there always people like that?

I'm going back to WDW in 6 days and can't wait. Hopefully I don't do anything too stupid :)

I don't work there, but I live pretty close and we go all the time. I always see people stalking them. I feel so bad for them. They're always so nice and friendly. I've never seen any SGs demanding stuff though.

And no, I've never won anything(never expected to). I'm just happy to be able to go a lot.

It hasn't been too bad. But a lot of times the dream squad will show up and hand out things at unload. And all the people at load will be like "Why don't I get anything?". There have been a couple of guests who have gotten picked a number of times and then the majority who don't even see the dream squad.

I get a little jealous when I see someone with a "Dream", we came *thisclose*
to winning something while exiting the Matterhorn one day....However, my family does have annual passes, we go to Disneyland frequently, and I always tell my kids how lucky we are just to be there, that some people never get to go in their lifetime, and for others, maybe it is their only visit.
If we never win anything, it is OK

We have gone to DLR six times this year, and spent eight days at WDW. DW and I saw dream team once, and that was as they were finishing up trying to give a couple (who appearently didn't speak english) a dream. It looked like they thought the team was trying to sell them something! (ha)

have seen a lot of dream giveaways (fast passes, etc.)

Not a big deal for us. but some little kid would probably remember that for the rest of his life!!

We got Dream fastpasses once, but we do not go on all the thrill attractions, so I kept them for a souvenir in my Disney trip scrapbook. And we got those because some people we had met in the concierge lounge at DL Hotel over the few days we were there, were down where the squad was and they got us the fastpasses. We were not even there. That was nice of the other guests who we sat with and shared stories with in the lounge to even think of us. THAT was a magic moment of some people we had just met at the hotel, remembering us and getting the Dream fastpasses for us. How wonderful guests can treat one another!!! :D: That was very cool and one of the best things to happen to us, meting kind and great guests that were completely the polar opposite of SGs at the hotel to get two for us.

We send in our postcards every day to enter through the mail and never have received anything and have not even seen the Dream Squad in the Parks, probably because we are too busy doing things and having fun to search out a freeby! if it happens Great, I just want it to be a night in that dream suite! ;) If it does not happen Great! We are at the Happiest Place on Earth and having the time of our lives and I do not think we will be missing out on anything because we don't win anything from the Dream Squad! That is just icing on the cupcake if you ask me. The real cake is the trip to the Parks themselves! Right?

I've been to DL a bunch of times since it started and to be honest with you I dont even think about it while I'm there, I'm to busy having a geat time. I took my niece last Feb and we got lanyards and pins going into Golden Dreams, We just happen to be going in and they were handing them out. Then me, my Gf and her son were down for the week beofre the Thanksgiving break and we also got lanyards with pins at CA, he son spotted them by the pizza place in one of the more out of the way walkways, he was very excited and ran over to see, we followed and got lanyards, then we got the dream fastpasses, we were riding Dumbo, something I dont think I have done in many years and as we exited they were handing them out, again my GF's son got there first and he was through the roof. The only thing was it was a slow day at the parks and we really didnt need FP for most things, we were going to do RRCS but it was 101, we used Splash M and got soaked and the kid used all three autopias I think. It was exciting to win a little something, especailly for the kid, nice souvineers.

One of the ways of awarding Dreams is you can send in a postcard entry.

Nothing special, just a regular postcard with the required entrant's info.

Shows how much I pay attention to the stuff I get sent!! (assuming they sent me something that said that!)

Cool.
