SGs Trying to be Lawyers

Has anyone had anything like this happen to them?

In the past month, I've had 5 guests come up to me and ask where the bathrooms were. After finding out they were over by the exit of Space Mountain, they normally say something to this effect.
Stupid Guest wrote:California/Federal/International law mandates that a restaurant have a restroom inside of it! I will be contacting my lawyer when I get home!
They then stomp off, never to be heard from again.

While I'm not a Law major by any stretch of the imagination, I find it pretty hard to believe that Disney would intentionally risk a lawsuit by forgetting to put a bathroom inside its food locations.

Not being a lawyer, but working for the law, My response is that since the dining establishment is WITHIN the park, so are the RESTROOMS!! Also I believe that law pertains to a "stand alone" business. That being said, I would make sure that management is aware that the law is being quoted!

Edited to note, I am not aware of any Federal laws adressing a restroom requirement for establishments, nor do they even presume authority to address that issue, they leave that up to the individual states! And INTERNATIONAL law, please.. that dosn't even BEGIN to get down to that narrow of focus!

My First Job was at a Tastee Freez at age 15......some law regarding outside seating allowed us to have no restrooms for customers....

Never had someone pull the restroom thing on me, but I have had several SGs pull out the ADA card, in the context of they shouldn't have to wait in line for attractions because of the ADA. ADA mandates equal access, not superior access. So yes, you have to wait in that 60+ minute line as long as the queue is ADA accessible, which is true for most DCA attractions as well as newly revamped DL attractions (e.g., Autopia). And you definitely have to wait in line for the registers at the Emporium/WoD/wherever.

While I'm on the ADA, when I worked in Hotel stock, I actually walked our stores with a yardstick when I got bored to make sure the store was ADA accessible. Surprisingly, quite a few guests saw when I did this and thanked me, while my fellow CMs looked at me like "what the hell is he doing?"

And those assholes who are NOT disabled rent the wheelchairs and ECVs because they THINK it is going to get them FOL priviledges. All it does is make it miserable for someone who REALLY NEEDS the chair or ECV!
There is NO such thing as FOL for wheelchairs, there maybe a separate queue, but then you get to wait for the rest of your party who are going through the *abled* line. heeheehee  Abled people renting chairs for FOL priveledges....That ticks me off! Another pet peeve that I have to keep in a cage and feed and change the litter box for! ;)

There are several lawyers that are making headlines, as they go around suing people and businesses for non-compliance with the ADA, too bad some CM couldn't send them the names of SG's "posing" and using ECV's and wheelchairs, then they could sue the SG's for denying services to the truely disabled!!

I'm no law major either and as was mentioned by someone else I believe if there is outside seating, outside bathrooms are acceptable. Also, if there is such a law, it would only apply to locations built after the law was created.

This is why some rides are not ADA compliant by today's standards but still allowed to function, as well as historic buildings, etc.

But again, I'm not a lawyer. I'm sure someone with some legal education will be along soon to offer his thoughts. :D:

Good thing no cm's in vending are buddists.
You buy a item, hand the CM your money, and wait for your change,
and after a while when no change is forthcoming, you ask the CM,
excuse me, where is my change, and they say, change must come from within...

I may not be Buddhist, but I would do this. I like it. Too bad I don't work in merch. Wait, I misquoted myself, I mean, good thing I don't work in merch.

Right. That was one of the downfalls of Subs at WDW.

Yeah, really. Especially Disney, who puts restrooms within such easy reach you can almost pee in any direction and hit one (if you're a guy).

With the right GAC card, we do have (I learned this today) the ability to make a FastPass for someone who has proven to Guest Relations that they can't wait in line. This Fastpass is for the time they would get up front if they did wait in line.
