They didn't. Most of the animation department was fired in the 1990s, and it didn't make sense to rehire them for one movie.

Getting rid of the animators was one of the stupidest things Disney has ever done. CG is all well and good but there is nothing like hand-drawn animation. It has a warmer look to it IMO for one. I don't see why CG and hand-drawn can't live together. Make some movies in CG and others with animators. All the sequels to classic Disney movies they seem to enjoy putting out should be drawn by hand to fit with the animation of the original.

Not to worry. I work in the computer industry and my fear of robot overlords will keep the technology in check.
