curb your enthusiasm (not the t.v. show)

I won't say where I was, but this afternoon had to listen to an overly enthusiastic rookie R.O. go on and on about how much she loved DL and Jungle in particular. First of all, it's a shock to hear a girl talking about working Jungle to me, as there were no chicks on the ride in my day (yeah, back in the stone ages). But she was going on and on about how great the ride is, demonstrating parts of the spiel, blah blah blah. I was standing in a room with another former c.m. and someone asked rookie girl how long she'd been at the park and she said 3 months. Apparantly, she was trained on Jungle in the past couple of weeks. The other ex-c.m. and I just kind of eyeballed each other and said softly something to the effect that she won't feel that way after she's been stuck on that ride to the exclusion of every other things she's been trained on for months on end...and it will eventually happen. Of course this is written by someone who didn't mind Book at first...I didn't know if I should slap this girl and try to talk some sense into her, or wait to hear that she's become a casualty of the pixie dust effect. Scary thing is that the last rookie that grated on me as much as this girl did ended up being the manager who caused (and became a casualty of) the Columbia accident. Same over-eager attitude, and spookilly enough, they look a lot alike. Should be interesting to observe over the long haul - and no, I didn't catch her name...
