Disney World Is So Dirty

Post by stefunierocks » Tue Oct 30, 2007 9:42 pm

Im so incredibly sick of reading about how some poor SG's trip was ruined because he saw an overflowing trash can.

NEWSFLASH

Hundreds of thousands of people frequent the parks every day and disney world only employes 60,000 people. There arent enough employees to run the parks, and follow your family around and clean up after you.

While I have seen my fair share of overflowing trash cans, chipped paint and dirty bathrooms around the world I would never think of it ruining my trip. And most every time, Ive alerted a cm in the area and they alert a custodian. There just arent enough custodians to be in every nook and cranny at once.

I get holding Disney to a high standard. But its ridiculous to think that in a park with that many people in it that there arent going to be SOME trash issues, SOME dirty bathroom issues. And again, considering the odds your family might be the ONE in front of the CM whos tearing ass to get there and clean it up.

GAAH.

Been to Disney 200+ times.

Next trip: Oct. 12 for MNSSHP.

I agree. Most of the clutter that I saw was the result of lazy park goers, anyway. Tables with trays and clutter that could have easily been carried to the cans when they were done. The bathrooms weren't spotless, but they were clean. EXCEPT when they were crowded with moms and kids and babies and no one was putting the trash in the cans.

Now, Animal Kingdom did leave 4 inches of mud on the bottoms of my pants... LOL. Rain + dust + long pants = Muddy me. Also smiling me :)

I really don't get (maybe I'm nuts) it that if you are eating somewhere pick up after yourself. I've found lots of places (not just disney) that might have a dirty table or stuff on it.. dirty napkin. Maybe I'm one of the few folks that depending on nasty it is, will clean it myself (a tray with some paperplates & cups not a big deal) rather than let something fall on the ground and get smashed to bits by the next lazy lump that walks by and looks at it in disgust.

I don't wash tables though.. if It's that bad I won't sit there. As far as the trash I don't recall seeing anything THAT bad at WDW too often.. If something looked full, I'd just mash it down with the bottom of the cup I was tossing.. It doesn't cost anything to wash my hands.

Then again, I guess I'm used to not getting my vacation ruined by full trashbins. The earth is a big rubish heap and they expect a bunch of full service gas attendant style sweepers for every family, it's just not going to happen. Picking up your own stuff would really help.. If only everyone did that. =(

I'm happy to say I didn't see anyone changing their baby on the quickservice food trays in World Showcase this last trip. That still grosses me out whenever I think about it.. um.. what are those baby centers for anyway?

I carry Wet Ones with me everywhere and if we find a restaurant with a dirty table (do it at Costco snack bar too) I will dump garbage and wipe down the table if we need a place to sit. I cannot stand for very long, so I need to sit down. It irks me as well that people just cannot take their own trash to a garbage can. It is the whole "I am on vacation, and I don't need to work, someone else will do it" mentality. I was taught to respect others' property and that included cleaning up after myself at a fast food restaurant and anywhere I might leave garbage or debris behind, such as picnics in the city or regional parks, barbeques, campgrounds. (Speaking of campgrounds, where IS Randy these days?)

I watched the poor CM's cleaning tables after the SG's and it was pretty much a constant wave of dirty tables with no end in sight for the poor guy. I made sure to get all of our trash, the bit of food our daughter dropped and even wiped it down with a wipe for the next SG to come by and ruin it.

I found the parks to be in excellent condition as far as cleanliness goes.

My GF totaly cleans the table when we are done eating. Theres no need for anyone to come by and do it, she leaves it cleaner than when we sat down.

The ones that piss me off the most are the people that toss trash on the ground or leave it sitting on top of something. Theres a trash can, what, every 16 feet in Disney's parks, you cant make it that far with that soda cup in your hand. Litter bugs is all they are, same people toss trash out the window of their cars, pisses me off to no end. Or the ones that will set the garbage on top of the garbage can, what, cant find the hole? And yes, I have said that to a couple of SG's.

Heres one i read on a fan board.
They were at WDW waiting for Mickey's Philharmagic, a little kid, diaper down shirt up, mom pulls out a plastic bag and the kid pee's in it while waiting in line. When done mom shows everyone how good SG JR did, ties the opening to the bag and SETS IT ON THE GROUND BY THE WALL for some poor CM to pick up. Thats just completely wrong, CM's are not your mommy, keep SG JR's pee bag and get ride of it yourself.

Rant finished

Steve

Two weeks ago, we went in to Pizzafari for my daughter's 23rd cheese pizza for the week (she is mental) and while we were sitting there, three different tables with at least 8 people at each just got up and left all their crap. Cripes...you have a tray...the garbage can is RIGHT THERE. Dump your own junk.

I have OCD, so I clean all the garbage and wipe the table down when we are done. :D:

Don't have the OCD, but I do the same. It's not a curse in this case.

Nah, my OCD is that I get really uncomfortable if I get in a bus and don't have a microphone in my hand.

Since you were counting the exact number of pizzas, are you sure she doesn't take after you? ;) :p:
