All right there rumormeisters, settle this for me. I know I haven't been haunting the site lately. But I just heard DCA is closing to be made into something new. Do I dare to dream?

Or is it just a Halloween prank?

5 years of construction projects including the hotel addition, removal of the maliboomer, demolition of California Dreams or installing a ride in that building, new trolley ride from front area through hollywood and around to Cars Land.

No major revamping of Hollywood, winery stays, and Soarin and Grizzzly Rapids area will stay the same.

It means that guests will come when there is construction and there will not be a grand reopening but piece by piece additions. It means for the next 5 years a half dead park will be in distress from the construction and the brainless management will thing that CMs and guests will enjoy the added treats meant to compensate for the construction and inconvenience there of.

I know about the $1.1B makeover (YAY!!! :D: ), but has anyone heard if an eventual name change is in the works? I've read speculation ("Walt Disney's California" seems to be a favorite), but nothing from any reliable sources.

This is a 5 year long project and Disney is saying that currently it will be DCA. They did also leave open the possibility of a name change way into the future.

I know it's futile, but one can have hope.

I know, long time no see...

But frankly, I'm looking forward to this. Being a DCA cast member does have me worried what the new additions and upgrades will do to our park in the mean time. I mean, really, how inviting is a facade covered in tarps?

The concept is beautiful, however the execution makes me wonder.

More than you might think. My one and only trip to DL was during the renovation for the 50th anniversary and the whole CASTLE was under a big tarp. But we were just happy to be there at all. My son will be there this coming June. Think the DCA renovation will have started by then? Just trying to prepare him.

Oh, I'm sure they'll have started before June...Midway Madness is due to open around then I think, so they'll want to have that to counter-act the construction. They'll probably be breaking ground before the year is out, but that was another question I had had. It'll probably happen sometime soon; since a lot of the construction is going to be where the Lion King parking lot currently stands, they'll want to have that portion started, so they reduce the impact it'll have on our guests. It just seems more beneficial to me to have it closed in the off season, however, that opinion is coming from a stores cast member, not one from parking and transportation.

And, true, the castle was a draw, but the castle is an icon. Greetings from California? Not so much. I can see where you're coming from though, and for the sake of my sanity, and that of my cast members, I hope you're right.
