So I WON'T be a SG...

Yes, I know I work at DL(I even got RFT status now!!), but I'm planning a trip to WDW in February. Ok, so I can't beat the CM price to stay at a WDW hotel, either($28 a NIGHT!!!!), so we're gonna do that..

Now, the last time I was at WDW, there was NO epcot, so you can figure out how long ago that was, and WDW still had A-E tickets.

What should I do?? I mean besides find Wallaby and ride his bus. I don't wanna be a SG, but have no choice but to be a tourist.

All you regulars at WDW, I want to know the things I HAVE to do. I'll be there for 7 days. I don't wanna do all the stuff we have at DL, well, except for Haunted Mansion and Small World. But I don't want to stand in line all day, and would rather spend my time SEEING rather than riding.

And to any of the cast members from WDW that might read this--would someone find out the price to rent an ecv and see if there's some sort of CM discount for me?? I won't be able to walk all day every day, so will need to wheel it one day then walk one day then wheel it, etc. My knee will only take so much walking before it just decides to tell me FU, if you catch my drift...

Thanks everyone!!!

I'm not sure what all DL shares with WDW so bear with me if I mention anything both have.

You have to ride Rockin' Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror (ours is different and the original), Expedition Everest, Dinosaur, go on the Kilamanjaro Safaris (at least twice, once in the morning and once in the evening), the Walt Disney World Railroad (ours is bigger), see the many shows that are only at WDW, the list is nearly endless.

Also, if you have time, do some resort hopping and check out all of the different themes. At least do the monorail resorts as those are all easy to get to.

Do you know what resort are you staying at? You can't beat $28 a night, especially at a WDW resort.

I know that wheelchairs are free for CMs as my SIL, who was a CM at the time, got one for our Magic Kingdom day on my last trip but I don't know about ECVs.

We are staying at pop century, as far as I know. I'm just going. My friend made all the reservations after he asked for my personnel ID number..

Not sure how you got that $28 rate, but I'm not complaining, either.

Of course you have to ride my bus, and during the midweek, you have to have me tag along and be the strange guy on *all* your rides.

I'll start working on a list of stuff you have to do now.

Welcome to WDW. When in February will you be coming? If you come in the first third of the month it will not be crowded. Speed Week in Daytona starts about a week before President's Day (2/18/08) and it is only about 70 miles from WDW, so lots of people start coming to the parks then; that is also the end of Value Season.

You might want to go to http://www.disboards.com and look at the "disABILTIES" Forum, which is about the 10th one down the list.

One of the first items there is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which gives lots of useful information and links. You can scan through for threads which might interest you.

It is a moderated board, similar to this but "family friendly" so some things which might be acceptable here are not there. Quite a few people on this board are also active on that board. Anybody can read anything, but to post you have to register. Also, if you register it will keep track of when you were last on and bold all thread titles that have been created or updated since you were last on and even know which post in each thread you had last seen.

Hey, where'd you get my touring plan??? :D:

IMHO, Unofficial Guide's okay, but there's no touring book/planner better than PassPorter: Walt Disney World. (It has our own Zazu on its research and review team!!!)

Most of the rides at WDW that are the "same" as DL are only the same in name. Ride them, you will find, our pirates (DL) is better, but WDW Splash is better, jungle cruise are close but have some differences, HM were close but they just got major refub. Skip space mountain, ours rocks and is so much better, they need a refurb bad, its like Matterhorn but much rougher. ToT is different and worth riding. Do everything you can, in my opinion its all good, dont skip the classics due to name the same as DL they are not the same. POP is great, ill tell you the same thing I tell everyone, go early and stay late. Use EMH if you can, have fun.

Another thing, if you use a WC or ECV at Animal Kingdom be ready for a hard day with it. The park is hilly and the roads are rough to fit the theme.

Also, if you can leave the WC/ECV outside of Safaris. Because of where stroller parking (part way up the queue) and where it is in relation to the exit the CMs there usually don't allow wheelchairs to be left there. This means you have to go up to the handicapped boarding ramp which is seperate from the regular one and wait for the handicapped truck. My understanding is that there's always a long wait after reaching the platform. I've read on Board X about a family that waited for 40 minutes to board during a time when trucks were leaving the regular platform mostly empty because people weren't walking up fast enough to fill them.

It would probably use a WC/ECV in Epcot as there is a LOT of walking in that park, especially around the World Showcase.

This is kind of what I want to know. This tells me that on a "bad knee" day, I can go to Epcot in an ECV, but want to use a "good knee" day to do AK, so I won't need one.

There are now 10 of us CM's going on this trip, and more are making up their minds... I think I'm gonna start feeling sorry for the WDW CM's when we all get there, cause you never know what's gonna come out of some of these people's mouths when we're together. It's a laugh riot when we're all in the Bank together, so I can just imagine what's gonna happen at WDW!!!!!!!!
