Stupid Guest Tricks

Thought I'd start a thread about things we witness that gives us hope that perhaps there is a lifeguard on duty at the gene pool on occasion. I saw a couple today so I thought I'd post about them.

I take the bus home from campus every day (we drop my car at the park and ride, then hubby and I take the H.O.V lane into downtown and he drops me off then heads to work; saves us both time and me from parking downtown, not to mention the bus is free with my student I.D)..anywho..the express bus I was taking home was packed, and myself and two gentlemen all offered to give up our seats to people that were standing at various times. One gentleman was older than I was, one was much younger (young enough to be my so..younger brother).

Manners are NOT dead...even on public transit. Or it could be that it was an express park n ride bus, not a local, so that may have played a part on the patrons (not to say there is anything wrong with patrons on local busses, I take a local from home to downtown sometimes if I want reading time, but the express/park n ride get more professional/business people). Either way, it made my heart sing happy drinking songs to see.

I don't see that on WDW busses often, lol.

So share your altruistic (helping behavior darph) stories here...or not..i don't give a rats ass either way :)

I was in the parking lot of The Pike in Long Beach and I was setting on the ground fixing the wheel on the wheelchair. I was doing ok but it was nice to have a lady walk up and offer to help me with the chair.

I had some people hold doors open for my mother and I on the trip.

It was nice to see people making sure the kids did not block mom's view of the fishies.

A cute guy in Florida sent me a Figment statue and that was my best present in a long time.

At Rosewood I will come in crying tired and Jose see me coming so he gets me an iced tea and a salad.

There are people out there that do care though at times it seems they are a dying breed.

I do. But it's because I'm on them all the time. In fact Monday night I saw that happen on every bus I had that was standing room only. The best one was a gentleman offering his seat to a woman who was holding 2 small children who was the last one getting on the bus. The flip side was her siginificant other who only had a couple of small bags and an umbrella stroller. :twisted:

I was just at Wal-Mart and saw an associate loading a ladies groceries into her car while she was in the car. I have never seen that before at Wal-Mart. The associates there don't even want to tell you where to find anything let alone put your stuff in your car.

My middle kid was born with a laundry list of problems. The major ones left him with no feeling in his legs but he is able to get around with either crutches or a wheelchair. He's set up in a condo in the middle of Lahaina and works at Safeway about two miles away so he rides the bus to and from work.

His condo is two blocks from any stops so the driver will stop in front of his condo and announce, "This is not The Wharf. This is a special stop." Pretty cool.

Which, of course, tells you how many people want to know if this is the wharf (not that the Lahaina Wharf isn't obvious enough on its own...)

A couple times a week, I see people who are helping someone they don't apparently know to get from point A to B. It's nice, because so many find the bus system to be confusing the first day or so here.

Probably one of the neatest I had was a night when I was working Epcot. A gentleman who noticed another guest at Port Orleans Riverside North Depot who had dinner reservations was going to be late, he asked me how he or we could help them. I gave them the transportation they needed to make their reservations on time, but I would never have known there was a problem unelss this one person (who was not with this other group) had asked. I still appreciate him giving me the opportunity to help someone who needed it but didn't think they could ask me for it and get the help they needed.
