Stupid Guest Tricks

Chatting away in a PM about this made me wonder how many ppl are paranoid about getting a speck of dirt.

Evil Board X :mad: has a discussion going on this. A surprisingly lot of folks lysol down their whole hotel rooms before allowing their family to enter or touch anything. One woman will not allow her SO to touch her if he as much comes in any contact with the remote without washing his hands first.

So to what extreme are you germaphobic? I have no issues with sitting on a bench that others have sat on without wiping it down with Clorox wipes. We rarely get sick around here and when we do it goes away quicker then others who get the same illness. Positive thinking helps too I think.

I'm pretty sure that I shared an ice cream cone with someone that picks his nose and sells sea shells for fun..

I guess the people that lysol and rub everything down haven't read the reports on how "anti bacterial" soap or rubs are worthless.

I'm not germophobic, and guess what? NEVER been sick on vacation.

It amazes me the amounts parents will go through to protect their offspring from "germs" from others, yet they won't do a thing to correct their bad behavior for fear of hurting their feelings....

Yes, I do believe that parents who claim "autism spectrum" for their child are lazy parents. In my day growing up it was called "spank their ass and make them listen"..now it's called "autism".

Be a friggen parent. Or not..you being a bad parent and claiming A.D.D gives me a career..ty

E.T.A...SOME kids need help, most just need their ass spanked...if you take offense to what I'm saying, your kid is one that needs their ass spanked and you aren't parent enough to do it so you rely on medication to control your child...seek help, for you, not your child...their behavior is normal....

In most situations I am almost distainful of germs. I grew up when it was assumed that you would come in contact with germs. Sure, some of the more dangerous forms should be avoided, but eating a carrot fresh from the garden with only the most cursory washing off of the dirt at the garden hose was "healthy". Because of this I have a very healthy immune system and rarely get sick, and like Vix, even when I do catch something I tend to get it much less intense and get over it much quicker. But with the prevalence of "anti-bacterial" everything, more parents have limited their childrens exposure. An immune system won't build resistance to something unless it has been exposed to it before (or something similar). So avoiding the weak strains (which are most easily killed with the A-B soaps and wipes) means that the nasty ones are much more likely to get really nasty.

I have heard many people are almost panicky about the bio scanners used at WDW at the turnstyles because they are worried about germ transmission. I on the other hand, don't have a problem. Sure, just before eating I do wash my hands, but I'm not scared of door knobs.

I did say I am not worried in MOST situations. I DO have anti-bact soap that I use when I am cooking so that after handling raw meat (hamb, sausage, bacon, etc) and while it is cooking I wash up before then handling the cooked food so that I am not transmitting any problems from the raw to the cooked.

It works for me. I have used a total of 5 days of sick leave in the last 20 years. :D:

There is only one thing I use Lysol wipes on, and that's my microphone... but that's actually because a lot of bus drivers have bad breath. I was talking into one microphone one day, and had to stop because the scent of the previous drivers' breath was overpowering at best. After that, I've kept Lysol wipes with me on the bus. Actually, I'll be getting my own microphone soon. If I stay in buses much longer.

We eat raw cookie dough and it tastes damn good that way. LOL One of those tubes of Pillsbury never seem to actually make it to the oven. LOL

My dad and brother are beyond paranoid about someone eating off their plate or touching something they consider private. My moron brother actually told me to get out of his house because we were helping him move in and I picked up one of his socks out of a box.

I have read where the over use of antibacterial stuff will cause your immune system to become intolerant of it so that it pretty much is a mute point to use it after a while.

Only place you do want to always use antibacterial handsoaps is in the Operating Room, simply because you are putting the same hands and tools into the bodies of so many patients day in and day out.


If you are a doctor and use a different set of hands for each operation, that's gross and I don't want to hear about it.

ICSP, I am going to have to respectfully disagree with you on your views on Autism. My Eldest Son is nearly 20 years old and was born with Autism, and it is not because I am a lazy parent....I am very fortunate because he is smart enough to take some classes at our local college, but not socially aware enough where I can ever anticipate him being entirely independent. I used to have to watch him continuously when he was much younger, which I gladly did, in order to prevent him from running out in the street, starting a fire, etc., and I SPANKED him when he did anything dangerous. He is not on any meds, no need, as he is a very well- behaved young man who volunteers as an aide at the local Adult Day Health Care facility(for others with disabilities)
in addition to having a lot of friends,and playing soccer. I am very proud of him, and myself for working hard for him, but it is the sad truth that no matter how good of a parent I was (with no help from his father!)He will always have Autism.
As for germaphobes.....washing your hands is the best defense!

I had a good friend growing up whose mom was a teacher and worked exclusively with kids with Autism. With the stories she would tell of both the kids and their very dynamic parents, I think I have to go with DM on this one...That is, of course, unless Autism Spectrum is something other than true Autism... I agree with the rest of what you said there, though.
