Stupid Realtor Tricks

So hubby and I decide it's a great time to buy a house. The market in denver is optimal for us, as we don't need an FHA loan and are able to buy a house on "short sale" which enables us to buy a foreclosure house cheap (you can't use an FHA loan on a short sale because the title has changed hands in the last year). Granted, it's more of an investment and not a long term thing, but we want to buy a house with potential, relatively cheap, and "flip it" in the next two years (live for two years in it to avoid capital gains).
So we find a PERFECT house for us to do this...5 bedroom, 4 bath, tudor style.. 3300 sqft....Needs work..ok..no problem. Well under our budget and we would not lose money on it even if the market stayed the same. It looks like Mr. Toads house. (SIDE VENT...I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO PUTTING MR TOAD STATUES ON THE TOPS OF THE BRICK ON PARTICIANS IN THE IRON FENCE)
So we go and get the pre approval from our bank, yada yada, and we make an appointment to see the house (after leaving multiple messages for the realtor, she finally called us back this past monday). Today she calls and says that the house is already under contract. Ok...umm...why were we not told that on MONDAY when we made the appt to see it tomorrow? We could have looked for other properties and looked at them tomorrow....
I'm so pissed right now. I understand things happen, but, this realtor dropped the ball IMO. I left a message for her supervisor that I would NOT be looking at any more Kellar Williams properties until they could prove to me that their agents weren't incompetant.
Am I wrong in assuming an agent should know if one of their own listed properties is under contract? We've never bought a house, so maybe this is the norm?? I'm ok if i'm wrong, I just want to know if maybe I'm giving the realtors too much credit in providing customer service?
