I don't know if this has been posted before but I found this in the Sept 2007 issue of Reader's Digest and thought of you guys here...

"A warning called out by a bus driver at Disney World: "Don't forget your kids. If we find them, we drop them off at the 'It's A Small World' ride, were they'll learn the song in 30 languages and sing it to you over and over."

This is great. Is it one our erstwhile drivers here??

;)

From what I understand (which is very little :D: ), The Jungle Cruise Captains at DL do the same thing.

It started with kids left behind would be put to work in Small World and has has many variations. That is a good version and one I have not heard of before.

Cool...Given the amount of yo-yos out there, just hearing the song "It's a Small World" in English over and over again would be enough to make sure you take Junior with you. :-) I sing it just to torment those around me. When I was in high school, I sung this song (all three stanzas, mind you!) at a friend of my mom's initiation as some muckety-muck in, I think, the Eastern Star lodge. I still can sing the first two stanzas...

I love to say things like this to the general public. I grew up at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri (my folks had a resort) and when Jaws, the movie came out, I used to tell people to watch out for fresh water sharks (aka gar). Most believed me... :p: In fact, people would argue with me that a fish (aka perch or sunfish) had bit their toes. Uh huh..

I actually use a very (very) similar closing spiel to this. Did the Readers Digest have any more detail in the story? If so, there is a chance I could pinpoint the person who was noted. While everything I say in my closing spiel is stolen except for one thing (and that part stolen from me, see: Cranbiz :D: . By the way, if you use it on your bus, do many of your people see it as an invitation for applause?), the combination of things I say is rather unique.

Thats not my Small World spiel but I do like it. The problem with it for me is it's too long. I barely have enough time to spit out my version, then the manditory Watch your step/language thing etc before I get to a resort. Now I've added either a stern "Now get out" or a "Make like a tree and leave" ending at the resort after the Mine, Mine, Mine bit. The timing is the tricky part.

It's getting to the point that I need runs off property just to get enough time to spiel everything I want to.

Yeah, I usually start about a quarter of a mile from the load zones, myself.

Dude, you have to post the Latin lyrics!!! I need another bit of arcane and useless information to fill my (mostly unused) cranial cavity.

Why does a statement like this not surprise me coming from a lawyer. :D: :D:
