Just had this guy come in, one of those people you just want to slap. We towed his car on an accident yesterday, cheapy mercedes, driver comes in with no keys. The guy calls me earlier and tells me my rates are outragious. Well if you dont run a towing business you dont know if my rates are outragious since you have no experience in the industry. He comes in to get his things out of the car and I ask for the key, he says he doesnt have it, my driver had it loaded on the flat bed so he didnt think a key was needed. Dude, its a car, you cant do anything without a key. I tell him the key needs to stay with the car, you know, car-key. We cant lock the car without the key (German car needs key to lock) plus he say the tops down so they couldnt put it up so he can get into it. Well DUH! dont you want us to put the top up and secure the car? Guess not. Plus hes got this attitude about him like I drive a mercedes so I'm better than you, hot girlfriend, very young with him that doesnt know if she breads with him her kids will be Dee Dee Dee.
Thanks for letting me vent.
Steve

if he's got decent insurance on his car, your rates shouldn't matter, his ins will cover it
p.s. should i pray for rain in your area? is the top on his "benz" still down?

Years ago a neighbor was a tow truck driver. He stopped by one day to tell me about a doctor from Stanford (you can always tell a Stanford man, but not much) who semi totaled his Ferrari. The guy was so embarressed he wanted the car covered with a tarp while it was on the truck. He also wanted it behind a solid fence in the storage yard so no one could see it.
I went by the yard, took some pictures, and sent them to Car & Driver magazine. They published them. The doc found out and threatened to sue the towing company but never did.

That's harsh. I love it! Which edition of C&D were they in?
I hope you sent the pictures anonymously, so that the yard owner could then say that he didn't give permission to take the pictures and he didn't know who did. Even better if he could say that honestly and with a straight face.
