Hi, I'm Randy and I'm an SG.

Hi. I've been lurking here for a while now and finally got the nerve to register so I can type the things I have been shouting at the screen.

I am not a CM (as my full beard will show) but I do like to make friends where ever I go so I do have CMs I like to consider as friends. I have been visiting WDW for many years and have had an AP for many years, but I hope I have been able to avoid being a passhole. (fingers crossed) I am a strong advocate of treating CMs as human beings. Unlike some SGs I think that if I am treated with respect it behoves me to return the treatment.

Now as to why I list that I am a SG. I freely admit that I have what I can recently refer to as senior moments, but they have been happening since I was way too young to use that excuse. :D: Sometimes it has been out of a misguided attempt to lighten the mood of someone displaying signs of boordom or having a bad day. I remember at least once trying to be silly by doing the walk to the measure stick on my knees in an attempt to make a joke. I realize that it wasn't exactly an original act and I now feel properly embarrassed. :o: One other incident I remember was due to my ability to shut out distactions when I am concentrating on something. This ability comes in handy on my job (Radio station operations) but it can be trouble when I automatically shut out everything but what I am concentrating on away from work. For example, one time I was on Main St at the MK and stopped to take a photo of a band playing on the sidewalk. I composed the photo just right just when another SG decided to stand directly infront of me so my camera only had a view of the back of his head. I moved a bit to regain a view and re-compose the image I wanted. I was concentrating so strong I had completely shut out everything that was not needed in visually composing the image. Just half a second after I snapped the photo I felt a very strong shove from the side. When I turned my head I found myself face-to-face with a horse. About this time I realized I had been hearing a bell ringing for some time but had been ignoring it. I was standing right in the middle of the trolly tracks and the horse was wishing to get by me. I moved immediately.

So I recognize that I have been an SG many times in the past and probably will be one in the future, but I will try to keep my questions about the 3:00 parade to a minimum. :D:

BTW, having read almost all the old posts going back many years I recognize that sometimes I may react with a comment as a "devils advocate" with a slight different point of view. I hope that everyone will understand that I have no intent of ever puting down a CM who is doing a very trying job under trying conditions. But sometimes I may have another explaination or way of looking at something. And as those who know me (Hi Zazu) can attest I can also have a bit of a wicked sense of humor.

I hope to be a contributing member of this group, even if I am just a stupid guest (with good intentions). If nothing else I can occasionally create a smilie from time to time (as I have already done).

One of the keys to being a proper SG that we are willing to put up with as opposed to the ones we skewer here is that you realize it at the time or shortly thereafter, do what we need you to do (often for your safety) and apologize nicely.

You sound like we'll be fine with you.

Randy,

:welcome:

You will fit in fine here. We all do stupid things, it's the ability to admit it and move on that makes us better (and not a repeat offender)

Darph,

I thought that you were on a 12 beer program.

Actually it's a Twelve Steps to the Twelve Beers program

And welcome, Randy. You're the best kind of SG. The kind that does realize that they have a problem and admit it. ;)

And CBeilby is correct. (I just can't remember if it's 12 steps there and 12 steps back,or 12 steps total? )

Welcome Randy! I too am a guest, hopefully not a stupid one. I've probably had my moments, but never had the CM use the horse to nudge me out of the way, they usually just let em run over me :D:

Darph is on the 12 step program, 12 beers in a 12-pack...
