Why???????????????????

I have to scratch my head on this one. Today while pulling out of the kingdom station, I looked out my right side door to the mirror that allows us pilots to see the dispatch lights and what do I see. An arm, complete with hand and reconizable non disneyesk tatoo, sticking out of the side of the train waving. So I stopped the train via e-stop and the arm went back in. Odd right. Silly, you bet.

even strainge due to the fact that the only windows that you can open are these long thin vent windows at the front and back of the car.
Anyway I make a short announcement about why we had stopped and that we would be moving in a moment. Then we continued to the TTC. Now you'd think that if you did this you would just slink away trying not to be noticed. No I was shocked when the guy approached me and told me that I didn't need to overreact and stop the train and that he was just trying to have fun. He then left without firther word.
Understand that he wasn't yelling or upset, he was just peved that I killed his seemingly good time.

I wonder if this guy understands that he could have been ripped through that same little vent if his arm had gotten cought.

There is just a mentality of park guests where they think they cannot get hurt....actually I think its tourists in general. They are the same people jumping out in front of traffic on I-drive.

People do not realize or know that along the train tracks there are bushes that can wack a person hard. I was on the DL monorail and SPLAT against the window were tree limbs hitting the monorail. People would get scared by the sudden smacking of tree limbs and few got wapped because they were to close to an open window. Who would think there would be trees near the monorail.

Actually, it wouldn't have pulled him out through the vent... It would have merely pulled his arm off. The rest of him would have been fine... unless it took a shoulder, too.
You need to learn to calm down about things like that. Just have towels on hand in every car, and make sure to post placards how to use them.
The Placard wrote:Once arm is completely severed, pack as many towels as you can squeeze into the cavity left in the shoulder. In the event that any of the arm is left attached to the body, wrap remaining arm in towels and apply pressure at bicep to slow blood flow. Open roof escape hatch to show pilot that you have a problem. If train does not stop when roof hatch is opened, have disarmed guest stand on top of train when passing through any station. This should immediately cease any pain to the injured guest. Please do not allow guest to die, as no one ever dies at Disney World.
<cough, cough>

When my wife and I leave large venues with lots of people (sporting events, concerts, etc) where we have to cross in front of traffic, I'm famous (or is that in-famous?) for saying, "They can't hit us all." Or, "Stay in the middle of the pack. The ones that get injured are on the outside."
One time someone said, "Famous last words!" (Or was that In-famous?)
:p:
When we were in the Bahamas earlier this year, our resort was across from a "flea-market area," but we had to cross a street. Thank God that the entire area in front of the resort were speed bumps and the speed limit was low. I nearly always had to tell my wife to look in the OPPOSITE direction (from normal) when we were crossing the street, since in the Bahamas, they drive on the wrong side of the road.

As a Bahamian tour guide once told me, "The left side is the right side. The right side is suicide." :)

Your kidding, Trees way up here near a monorail beam. Damn who-da-thunk-it.

It's not the wrong side to them.
My mother went to PR once and said the people she was with they were all driving down the road. a 4 lane. there was an accident and in a matter of 2-3 mins the 4 lane became a 6 lane and people were driving down the side of the road to get around the accident.

Hey I was going to say that.
I was in the supermarket and this SG family got in my way too many times. I went for the steaks and a couple of them blocked me. I was moving faster as I have a system that makes it pretty fast. I went back for bug spray and turned back to continue. There they were 5 abreast walking really really really slooooowww. Of course the youngest kid was a screamer and the two older ones were roamers. The SGs leave the parks and hit the dratted grocery stores and make my life a living night mare. I got so much energy and it aint for watching their kids coutie dancing in the aisles, kids screaming, and them blocking aisles.
My rant for the day.
