They said a study was done and yelling any of the 3 things you listed above rarely brought people over because they didn't want to be the witness to anything and have to deal with it. The report said the one thing to always yell when in danger is "FIRE" because for some reason, everyone will come running to watch something on fire. Says something about this country.
Good point...I forgot for a moment we were living in the age of *I don't want to get involved!* Yelling ANYTHING did work years ago. Back when people CARED about one another's well being. FIRE is actually a better idea. Thanks for bringing me back to the real world, yeah really, thanks a lot! :(
I sometimes hate people, not any of you here, just people in general. It is a different world than it was when I was growing up.... :(

Susi, did they find those Creeps and charge them with anything?
I always try to have my Hubby or grown sons with me when out in town at night, and I don't want them traveling alone either.

I forget where this happened, but it was back in the 60s. This one woman was attacked and stabbed repeatedly by a man, who wandered off, then came back and stabbed her again, this happened about three or four times. This was in broad daylight, in a suburban neighborhood, with plenty of witnesses. Despite the victim's pleas for help, nobody lifted a phone to call police (pre-911).The woman was eventually stabbed to death. Nobody wanted to get involved. It's nothing new, I'm afraid.

My first CP I had a very bad experience at the AMC at DTD. A bunch of us went to a late show and nobody would walk me back to my car. There were several teens hanging out, which made me uncomfortable. My car was pretty far away, and as I'm walking a large SUV with four guys heading towards the exit flips a u-turn and starts following me. I saw my car and ran, the SUV speeding up behind me. We reached the car at the same time. They opened their doors as I jumped in and locked mine. They closed theirs and sped off. I do not blame security, I saw them patrolling as I was on my way and it is a big lot.

Fast forward to a year later on my second CP. I was at DTD Marketplace and it was after dark. I am now decidedly nervous about walking to my car by myself and asked for a security escort. Apparently this has never been done before and they were quite confused. They were nice enough about it once they figured out what they were doing. The guard asked me why I wanted an escort and I explained what had happened the year before. I'm just amazed that they would find it odd that a single (very short) woman would want an escort to her car after dark.
Stop by Arribas Bros and get one of the nice big battle axes they sell. Juat carrying that thing in your hand might cause someone a second thought. If not, when one of those things get swinging it WILL do some damage. And it doesn't take much damage to collect DNA. ;) Of course identification of the perp is much easier when you can present a perfect form of "photo ID", the head of the perp (with or without a platter).

That reminds me of the great scene in "American Psycho" with the moonwalk with the AXE!!

Metal detectors can be seen everywhere in modern society that they are mainly applied in airports, stations, important conference rooms, supermarkets and many other public places where there are a large flow of people. They are used to detect the hidden metal objects on the people, such us guns and controlled knives, etc. Although metal detectors bring a lot of inconvenience to us, they are indispensable for the security of public safety.

This is the Kitty Genovese case. People watched from their windows and didn't call the cops. They didn't, of course, want to get involved. So the woman died. It's not a recent thing.
