Monorail Breakdown at WDW?

Anyone happen to know why the Yellow monorail was taken out of service at WDW yesterday around 2PM? We were on board, loaded up, started to depart the TTC... and stopped halfway out. After about 3 minutes, we backed into the station and they announced they were going to "reboot the monorail" (I've heard they run Windows... must explain that). Everything turned off, after about 5 minutes, they turned it back on and started to pull out again. We got about 1/3 of the way out when they stopped for a "routine maintenance check". After a minute or two, they (again) drove back into the station, got everyone off, and slowly pulled out. I suspect they went to maintenance (which is where I *GUESS* that beam between the contemporary and the MK leads). Anyway, I was just curious if anyone knew what was going on, as I imagine pulling one from service is not an every day thing. I did notice that there was a bumping feeling/sound when moving: flat tire?

That beam does go to the monorail barn. I did not hear anything while I was there. We will just have to wait for a monorail guru.

Yesterday Monorail yellow experianced what is known as a propultion failure. It was reset by maintnence but the breakers kept tripping. So the monorail was unloaded and then sent back to the shop.
Though it seems odd. The monorail has two propultion group if one is malfunctioning it can be locked out and the monorail can manage to get back to the shop under its' own power. The only problem is that the monorail can barely get up the hill at the contemporary.
Also, Monorail Yellow is testing the new more efficiant propultion system. The upside is that this system is more reliable, the down side is that it lacks stopping power. This is why Yellow seems to overrun stations.

I guess it's not completely reliable. :) What makes its propulsion system different from the others?

I've always been impressed by the monorails, ever since my first visit to WDW as a kid. I can't imagine how much fun they are to operate. Of course, I'd also get a kick out of driving the parking lot tram, the WDW railroad, the Friendship boats at Epcot, and any of the WDW buses. What can I say, I like big things with big engines. :)

I absolutely enjoyed the monorail. We rode in the front with the driver of the Yellow one. He explained how it all worked.

If I got my choice of what to drive I would drive the parking lot tram. I loved all of the comments that the person on the back made. A couple of them sounded like members of SGT.com. One of them actually said this and it has me laughing still today.: "We are coming up to Minnie Mouse. If you think that you parked in a mouse parking lot this is it. You may think that you parked in Mickey Mouse and that is possible. However, since Mickey Mouse parking is in california that is highly unlikely and this tram is not going that far. So once again this is Minnie Mouse parking and it is the only Mouse in this parking lot so please exit to driver's right if you parked in a mouse lot." That guy was so funny. He had us laughing the whole time.

When I've had a chance to ride in the front, the drivers weren't very chatty. I'm not terribly outgoing, so I didn't really try to start conversation either. I would love it if I could see how the system works. I'm a "how things work" kinda guy.

I'm a little concerned that he had you exiting to the driver's right if you were going to Minnie. Usually the trams will pull out of the TTC load zone, make a right, and the Minnie lot is the first stop on the left. If you go to the right, you end up in Chip and Dale.
