My Friends: Would it be so hard...take up so much of your time...to write the complete word or phrase first and then, if you are in such a rush, use acronyms? Not all of us are texting and whatever and just don't know what you are saying. For example: DTD; PI; TTC; MiMs; MDT; FQ; YC/BC just to name a few. I thank you! Chuck...

The following is a compilation of boards and other sources. There is the CM official acronym and then there are those used online which may very from user to user. This is not complete by far.

10-4 = ok or yes
10-7 = off duty for the evening
10-8 = off duty for the day
10-9 = repeat that, I did not understand
101 - Ride is unavailable such as stuck guests, disruptive guests, and idiots who drop stuff onto the tracks of a ride.

Guilty as charged. I apologize for the confusion, as that was never my goal. I write to an assumed audience of former, current and future Cast members, and I make the assumption that people know. In fact, it is something they take a few moments to demonstrate in Traditions, that we really do have our own language because we often would rather say or type the mutually-understood acronym than to say or write out the whole thing. With the length of my posts, every letter I can save is less pain in my fingers and less disk space on the SGT hard drive. When you have a tendancy to say in a thousand words what could be said in ten, you sometimes tend to think that way. We literally communicate with codes hundreds of times a day at Disney World, and it actually gets into how you think. I apologize for any confusion.

While I probably won't be more mindful in each and every post, as I may cover a lot of ground in one post, I'd be willing to link to Churchy's explanation in my signature. I ask sincerely: Do you think this would work for you and other newcomers to this site? I assume you to be a thinking person who, upon reading a post and not understanding some of the language, if given an opportunity to look up what I just said, would. By giving a link that is below every post where I use codes, I would, in effect, be posting a guide here in our lounge, where we come after work for dinner, drinks and some BS about our day. No, I am not going to translate that one. :D:

The codes are a slightly cliquish thing. I've found that if I am in the parks acting as a guest and use a code, because I am not in costume, they have to think about what I am saying/asking, whereas if I go up to that same person wearing purple pants, they'll get me the first time with no trouble.

That would also seem to me to be an easy way to bring people up to speed on what we're saying.

My final argument in my favor: Walt Disney himself used the codes when he was buying land here in Lake Buena Vista, back when it was called the Florida Project. The company name under which he bought a lot of the land here was WED, short for Walter Elias Disney. It is something that we pass on from Cast member to Cast member. However, if you are here and wish to engage us in intelligent conversation, as the wording of your post would indicate, then I feel that you have a right to know the code language we use, or at least enough of it to get by.

If that pecker that so kindly administrates this forum would be so gracious, I would love to make a list like that that can be updated, and be that sign on the wall. For instance, I would add a few things like MP for Market Place at Downtown Disney.

Only code I saw that I have a difference with is the 10-8... in buses, that means back in service. 10-7 covers everything from out of service for ten seconds to out of service forever.

I'm also guilty.

In my own defense, It I am using "new" acronyms I will usually spell it out the first time. Then if you are new to the term you should quickly get the acronym later in the post.
