Stupid Guest Tricks

About 2/3 of the way through, look for the words "For the ride." There's
a quick ballroom scene and then an even quicker scene of a ghost (or
statue, maybe) looking up and smiling. That ghost/statue looks almost
exactly like Walt. Or am I just nuts?

I would say that looks alot like Walt. I've yet to see PotC movie but I
hear it's good. I hope that The Haunted Mansion is as good or better.
The only thing is Eddie Murphy. I hope he doesn't try another Dr.
Doolittle type skit and make it funny but lame. I hope they try and follow
the original plot of the haunted mansion.

Which one? The stories are a little different for each park. And that Walt
ghost you see... is one of the singing busts from the ride. I forget the
name of the guy but it is just coincidence that he looks like Walt.

You mean Thurl? That's true, although he seems to be up and walking about, instead of lying down there on the ground ;)

And Old Crow, Pirates was awesome! I've seen it 1.5 times (fire alarm in the theater on one showing) :)

I attended the Comic-Con Haunted Mansion panel where the producer
and director were asked whether the movie would follow any Mansion
backstories. Their answer was basically it would not follow any of the
accepted stories we are familiar with. What I found interesting was that
the film would acknowledge that the ghosts were from a different time in
the south and that there would be conflict between them and the Eddie
Murphy family. They said it wasn't a huge part of the story, but that it
would be addressed. They also addressed a question from someone who
was nervous of the casting of Eddie Murphy. The director said that the
movie was not designed as an Eddie Murphy vehicle.

They showed three featurettes on costumes, production design and
makeup. Looks like Rick Baker has scored another home-run with his
work. Some of the ghosts looked like they died in humorous ways!

We'll see. Hopefully it doesn't "become" an Eddie Murphy vehicle, which could easily happen.

The story line I'd like it to follow is the pirate that wanted his trade to
remain a secret from his wife plot. If Rick Baker is doing some of the
effects/creatures then I can breath a little better. I love his stuff!

Tabacco: That sucks that you had to leave the movie due to a fire
alarm. I gota get out and see Pirates. Life at a newspaper leaves me
little time.

Reminded me of Thurl Ravenscroft as well. BTW, thanx for the link - that
was a cool trailer. At least they got the color of the butler's costume
right...I wonder if they raided D/L wardrobe for that one...

I do have to say, seeing the hitchhiking ghosts, the hearse, the ballroom
and Mme. Leota - well, it just warmed the cockles of my heart, being the
former queen of the mansion and all...lol...made me feel nostalgic for my
old home away from home. However, much bigger and more Hollywood
than our little Anaheim big house...

Mansion and Pirates were the only two rides I didn't know that I would
have liked to work. I was on the Eastside, though.

Back in the early 90s, they promised me that Mansion would be the next
ride I'd get trained on. Don't know what happened, but since that time,
they trained me in Toontown, Space Mountain, Canoes, Circle Vision, and
Astro Orbitor. Whenever I'd ask about Mansion, they'd say "oh, it's going
on it's rehab next month" or "we don't have the extra training hours at
the moment" or "we have lots of other people who need to get trained
there because they're not getting enough hours."

I was able to go there during the last open house - so that was cool.

I just wanted a ride where you could walk around and explore the sets.
The only one I knew that came close was Subs, in the caverns. Not
much there.
