Calm Down! It's only a Fastpass!

Ok, so I have been meaning to post on this for a few months now that FP is becoming a much bigger problem at my (and probably everyone elses) attractions.
Guests come up, put their park tickets into the FP machine, it clicks a few times, then beeps. Guest looks like the machine just took her ATM card and drained her account! Guest starts to panic that *OMG!* she might not ever get her precious FP! thats when the "Sir! Sir! Hey you! It didn't give me a FP, this machine is broken! Why didn't it work? Why would it do such a thing?" Ok. Calm down. I take her ticket, rub it on my pants to get the fingerprints off the magnetic strip (sometimes it helps), insert the ticket another way, and usually it works. If not, I just say "lets try another machine, sometimes the reader on this one gets dirty" and take it over to the machine that has an override activated. If it downt spit out a ticket automagically, I just hit the override button. The world is right again. We can go back to curing terminal illnesses, ending world hunger, and finding world peace.
So, why is it that so many guests get in a panic over a FP machine not working? If some of these people would calm down for a few seconds, we could help them beter (get them a key card, inspect the machine to see if there is anything wrong with it, etc). But usually if they're so frazzled, we just want to get em a fastpass so they don't explode.

One of the Bilge Rats in New Orleans Square tells everybody who asks about FP that they are unicorns; everybody loves them and wants but nobody ever can find one.
The other day a guest who very obviously knew very little english asked him and got confused, and proceded to ask more CMs where she could find the unicorns; it was pretty funy to see their faces as they tried to figure out what she meant by unicorns. :)

And why do theme parks not stop those who cheat by forcing their way into the FP line? It happens all over DW.

I had a guest come up to my front desk in the morning asking if she could just go to DLR early and take her kids tickets to get their Fastpasses as they would be meeting her later. I said no, that Disney actually frowns upon that and I embellished by saying, that if a CM caught her breaking the rules she would be removed from the park. She got all freaked out and said oh, okay thank you for telling me.
My question is why do SGs think that by cheating the Fastpass system that it will actually save any real time? What made me laugh is that she implied that by doing her little trick she could get ALL her Fastpasses for the day and not have to stand in line at all. You know how fun it was to explain to her that's NOT how they work? :sigh:

That's why they always scream and kick like babies. They think FP means "go to the front of the line!"

First of all, there is NO way you can cheat the Fast Pass system. You have to wait in line anyways. I guess the only way is to save old fastpasses and hope that the CMs don't notice it, but most likely, they do!

How early?? Before the park opens?? There is no way anyways. The machines are programmed to operate at park opening. There are covered up anyways.

Not to mention that she can only get 1 FP per ticket until the next FP window (with very few exceptions)

At WDW the fastpass issue machines tie into ATS. If the ticket being put in the FP machine has not been through that park's turnstile that day it will not issue a FP. Even when we have the biometrics turned off, the turnstiles still record each ticket.
The only exception is the "reentry" tickets being issued to guests who are entering on a CMs Main Gate Pass. But they are already considered as having entered the park as they are only good the day they are printed.

here's a question:
if she took the tickets for the little kiddies into the park, how would the little kids get into the park in the first place? :D:

Leave park with handstamp, reenter park with kids.
