Hello, everyone. I will be interviewing at WDW on the 24th, and seeing as there are so many CM's here, I was hoping to get some info from you guys on working at Disney. The things you comment on here and the way you comment on them seem pretty nice compared to how I could complain about the job I had a few years back.
My hope is to get into the transportation department, but I think I'd enjoy working attractions as well.
Any advice would be much appreciated, everything from interview tips, to when I'm working there, even that occasional "You don't want to work here.*"
Anyone who wants to give live advice, I will be on the grounds the day before, just let me know where to meet you. Please pardon the jet lag.
*I reserve the right to disagree with all CM's and their opinion, but I still appreciate being given said opinions.

The 24th is a Saturday. Are you sure HR will be open that day?

Perhaps that is the way HR's way of saying "thanks, but no thanks..."

Well, that's what they scheduled me for, he 24th at 2:00. I thought it a bit strange that they do casting on Saturday as well.

Casting has always been open Saturdays, if only to handle CR applicants who are only available weekends. Hell, with a shortage of 3,500 CMs, they'll hold auditions at 3am Sundays if the think somebody will show up!

I have thought about going back but the last time I was at casting it was decided I was only qualified for merchandising. Twenty-five years of law enforcement and all I am qualified for an merchandising? Nothing personal to anyone but I hate merchandising.

Not 100% sure, but I seem to remember someone saying that you must have a FL drivers license for any role in transportation (busses/monorails) ... Boats, perhaps not, but I don't know.

I heard for transportation, you need to posess a Florida Class A or B CDL, or you need to be able to get it in 90 days.
That is no problem for me, I can get it in 30.

1) During the interview, SMILE and BE ANIMATED. Act like you're genuinely happy to be there. The only person I know who interviewed and
wasn't hired by Disney was told afterwards "you didn't smile once during the interview."
2) Give the interviewer an anecdote about your history with Disney theme parks, TV, movies, cartoons, whatever -- it will help the interviewer see you more as a person and not as a "candidate".
3) Assuming you do get hired, remember: when dealing with rules that apply to guests, they're more guidelines than actual hard-and-fast rules.
