The Disney Company has announced a new attraction, Toy Story Mania, that will be opening to guests in 2008. It will be featured in Disney-MGM Studios as well as California Adventure. The ride will take guests through different stations of high tech carnival games. Guests will wear 3D glasses and ride eight people to a car. Some of the games featured will be a dart and ring toss game, as well as throwing eggs and pies at targets using a toy cannon with a string and lever.
The guests will also be tracked by computers that will automatically raise and lower the difficulty level based on skill. Toy Story Mania will also have Disney's "4-D" concept complete with "wind in your face, water spray, maybe even smell", says Tom Fitzgerald, senior creative executive with Walt Disney Imagineering.
So how many redos is this now? And where are they planning on putting this one??

First, I'd like to say, long time lurker, first time poster. that said...
Sounds like Disney is tired of Universal Orlando Islands of Adventure having the top ride in the world, The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman ( which Disney designed, then sold the Tech to Universal ). Sounds like Disney also is passing out the good swamp grow :dope: to the Imagineers from the back 40 of WDW as well. Gee Disney, quit bogarting the good stuff and pass it to all the CM's who have to deal with all the SGT's all day! :deadhorse :duh:

I'm sorry, but Spiderman was designed by Universal's Creative Department. I don't know where you think that Disney designed it...Disney hoards EVERYTHING that they make so, this one they wouldn't have let go by.
The "4-D" concept is something Universal has had going for years now.

Thanks for the info Notatourist. I'm just going on the data the techs told me while I was rescuing over at Spidey one day. Guess they were yanking everyone's chain with that one. Same thing with the rumor that Disney was pulling the GMR and replacing it with a 4-d ride based on Kingdom Hearts. weird....

LDC, lost count of DCA redos. Not hard to do.

Last fall DCA north was to include a replica of CA. Mission. This will go over well with the old Fransiscans. ;) I heard all new games are to be at DCA Pier. Geez, I'm reeeely glad I'm not there!!

I heard rumors that it be put UNDER California Screamin'. I don't know how the supports will be able to hold..
I heard it is going to be like Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. It's like a 3D movie and a ride all in one!!!

I did some research and it is a misunderstanding of the word "under" According to what I read it will be in a vacant building above ground. The building is underneath the roller coaster. This would mean they are rehabing an unused building where they sold burritos and photos. Facing the roller coaster on your right is the building.
Sad that Disney replaces bad food with bad rides. Which is the lesser of two evils. lol.

Least is fits somewhere with the carnival on the peir theme that I seem to get from DCA? It's going in right behind us at GMR over in the old Millionair building. It doesn't fit at all in the Studios but I'm still interested in seeing it.
But yes, Church was right, it's going in under Screamin'. Check out Westcoaster.com and they have a lot of photos of the construction from the past few months.
I'm holding judgement on this one. Just as long as the Potato Head Barker is inside the building, I don't think I could take him being outside, near our patio behind GMR. . . ANSEM! WE GOTTA BUILD A HIGHER WALL NOW!

No worse than the Seagulls outside of the seas ;) .
I heard in WDW the building is being designed to look like Pixar's studios so you enter Pixar to go on a tour only to find out the toys have taken over. Thus loosely tieing it into the Studios park.
In DCA it's replacing the carnival games so theming wise it fits.
