Stupid Guest Tricks

I've spent a few days reading this site and I'm totally in love. I worked for 3 years in a children's science museum in the IMAX theater. I caught only a fraction of the grief you guys (and gals) take...I don't know how you all do it! You are saints!

I'm leaving for Walt Disney World in a few days and would like to NOT be a SG. Any tips? I'm sure I'll ask some dumb questions, that's just the nature of the beast, lol. I'd like to not drive the CMs nuts.

Being only a guest,all I can suggest is to think 2sec before asking a question. Also ,study the maps well,and put your watch on WDW time. :D:

Start studying now. Remember you are not entitled to anything.

I've probably been a stupid guest, but not because I didn't read a sign or study maps, but probably cause I can just be annoying/stupid. I've probably shown that so far in my few posts on here :)

It doesn't matter if you ask stupid questions. Everyone gets the dumb now and again.

The important thing is to treat everyone you meet with friendship and respect, especially the Cast Members. But don't stop at Disneyworld. Going to a restaurant? Be nice to the wait staff. Thank the person at the checkout line.

The golden rule can get you pretty far. Treat people like people and you'll never really be a stupid guest.

I best bit of advice is to stop and think, would I act this way at home? Treat WDW as you would an honored friends' home. We all make mistakes and do commit a SGT or two. Just be respectful as many other posters have said, and have a good time. :)

I dunno...with the way some people act at home, I shudder to think of them acting the same way at WDW...which they of course do. These days, rudeness and the "It's All About Me" atttitude seems to start at home and to come out everywhere that the "Me" people go.

It's hilarious, and even tho' it's geared towards SGs at church, I think you can imagine these same people at a theme park. They act the same way at home and anyplace else on the planet that they venture.

That video is great...someone should make a similar one for WDW. "Don't worry about following park and resort rules...they were written for everybody else!"

When I worked front-line, I didn't like getting yelled at for enforcing rules I didn't create. (Although the excuse, "Sorry, the computer won't let me do that" worked rather nicely.) Be friendly to the cast, because it will truly make their day--and you'll get a better show out of them, too.

Thanks for all the tips. BRWombat, thanks so much for that link, lots of good info there. I've been doing tons of research and I'm going with a bona fide Disney nut who knows her way around so hopefully I won't make anyone's SG post :p

I mentioned I worked in an IMAX and one of my favorite stupid guests comments came when we had the movie "Dolphins." Someone actually called and asked if they needed to bring their own towels when they swam with the dolphins. WTF????? It's a movie, lol.
