I do have a question for our Photopass cast members. My 18 year old daugther wants to apply with Disney to work Photopass. She has taken 2 years of photography at South Lake HS. Will that work at photo experience or is she wasting her time applying? Also any hints you all can give her will be appreciated. Thanks
Rosie

Tell her to practice standing up and breathing at the same time.Rosie wrote:Also any hints you all can give her will be appreciated.
We've got 3500 vacancies at WDW right now. Being able to do those two things simultaneously appears to be the main criteria for hiring these days. Knowing which end of the camera to point at the guests will help, but it's really not essential.
And no, I'm *not* joking.

Re: Photopass question
While Zazu is correct that there are a lot of vacancies at WDW, DPI (Disney Photo Imaging, as Photopass is officially called) is actually pretty well staffed at this point (most full-timers are only getting 32-36 hours a week now). We went through a hiring blitz last summer and fall, and we filled up pretty much all of our Full-Time slots, and I don't believe we are hiring external Full-timers right now (not sure on that though, and I do believe there are Part-time slots open). But our department is still expanding, and in a few months, I bet they'll be having another hiring blitz, so tell her to keep an eye open on places like monster.com, or keeping in contact with Casting. It's a fun job, and her previous photography experience will help, though it's equally important that she's comfortable with being proactive in approaching and interacting with guests (and not in the old Kodak assault-and-batter-every-guest-on-Main-street approach).
Re: Photopass question
I know it's been a few months, but thought you might like to know that DPI/ Photopass is hiring again. It's only for part time workers right now, but all that means is that she won't get benefits right away. All the hours that she'd like to work are available if she wants them. Full timers get the benfits package, and I wouldn't be surprised if we add more full timers in a couple of months, but they'll likely come from within those already working part time.
Tell her to come on down and apply if she hasn't already. Even if she can't get into photopass right away, she'll be able to transfer in later at some point if she wants to.

What do you mean you won't smile for the camera?
Re: Photopass question
Thanks Sir Willow, that is exactly what she wants. She is going to call tomorrow morning.SirWillow wrote:I know it's been a few months, but thought you might like to know that DPI/ Photopass is hiring again. It's only for part time workers...
