Stupid Guest Tricks

Cell phones are great don't get me wrong. Can't find your spouse or lost a kid they are great to have. We used walkie talkies for years until we got cell phones. BUT OMG you are suppose to be on vacation! I just got back from Disney World and was amazed. Had one kid almost knock me to the ground because he was jogging through Epcot on his cell phone and looking behind him at the same time and I couldn't get out of the way fast enough.

Then I was watching a demonstration and this woman decided to call someone and describe EVERYTHING that was happening. People stopping dead in the middle of the walkways to answer a call. Parents holding the phone in one hand and talking business with a child holding the other hand looking at their parent with sadness. A man on the water taxi was speaking so loudly I started to answer his questions, I figured he wanted assistance. :) I think when you put your park pass in at the gate a little slip of paper should come out with it saying...If you have a cell phone please DO NOT stop in the middle of the walkway to use your phone, DO NOT use your phone during demonstrations, and (the worst is for all you CM's )DO NOT be on your cell phone while making a purchase or asking for assistance. It must drive you all crazy!! By the way thanks for the great job you all do!!

Yeah, I agree, all the time through out the parks, I see parents talking on their cell phones doing business stuff!! ISn't the point of GOING on vacation is to get away from work?? The only reason you would having of using a cell phone is to locate a lost member of your party or family.

Heh. This is when I feel really fortunate to work at the Getty Villa. The institution is deep in a canyon, therefore, no cellphone reception. I can't believe what a difference it makes. People in groups actually have to interact with each other - go figure.

Thanks for posting this! It really brings up one of my pet peeves - cell phones. Agreed, they're handy and have their uses. We've all seen drivers driving and talking on their cells. This can be dangerous. But the one thing I cannot stand??? People who use cell phones in public restrooms! I swear this drives me nuts. You know the saying "Hang up and drive?" My latest mantra has become "Hang up and flush!" :twisted:

Or when the morons are in the movie theater. Look, dumbass, if you can't wait for 2 hours without checking your phone or texting your friends, DON'T GO TO THE MOVIES!! DUH! Nothing is more annoying than either that damn screen light or some bastard talking and you know it's not to his neighbor. I make an exception for parents but you know they are not going to have their ringer on or be taking business calls.(well, usually) I have seriously seen people playing games on their phones during the show. WTF?!??

Cell phones are a particular pet peeve of mine too. I was a "late adopter" (refused to get one till I entered my graduate program and had to drive a long, lonely stretch of road in a bad neighborhood several nights a week). I've been known to start loud conversations on shocking topics with my husband when a nimrod next to me decides to yell into his cellphone in close proximity (or, worse yet, subjects me to BOTH sides of his high decible babblings on a Nextel).

Ok, here's my Stupid Guest on Cell Phone Trick.

I had the good fortune to attend an evening session at the Disney Institute with John Lasseter. What a wonderful, inspiring evening it was. He even showed us his project from animation school, a pencil animation of a boy who had monsters in his closet (and we know where that went!).

So, anyway, there we are enjoying the program, when a phone rings. Now, in an auditorium it is understandable but never appreciated. Where this guest turned stupid was: he did not answer the phone! It rang and rang, people looking around, and finally stopped. Then it buzzed it's 'message received' buzz. We thought, 'how embarassing - for Lasseter!'. And then - it rang again! Still, the SG did not answer or, dare I say, turn off the &^%#@ phone! I could not believe the disrespect this dude showed. But some people are just oblivions, living in a bubble of their own self worth, not perceiving their effect on the world around them.

#1 DLFR is right, on some 'other' boards I belong to ,one of the questions is "can i get high-speed/wireless internet" YOU'RE ON VACATION.
#2 in reply to zanntd ? Someone asked Dear Abby about bathroom ediquitte (sp?) when the person is in the next stall conducting business on their cell-phone. She was said "be descrete",BS I would have FARTED as loud as I could,and flushed,twice.
#3 for syndrome,My bosses at work wear those 'blue-tooth' thingies.Cool,until you're talking to them and the conversation goes off into the Twilight Zone. At first I thought "WTF,did I say something wrong"?
#4 To moonliner. If I had been Mr. Lasseter, I would have "Will you answer your F-IN phone so we can get on with the program".
#5 for all the rest of you tech-no freaks,QUIT texting while you're driving.There was a article on CNN ( i think) some police agencys want to get it outlawed. This on jerk said "his business 'totaly depends' on keeping "in touch". That's great until you run someone over,or slam into the back of a semi.
Last but not least,a few years ago we werestanding in line for PoTC,and some gal is yacking away on her cell-phone. All I could think was STFU.
