Back in 2001, I had a guest in the Guest Relations Lobby who told me the following story:
Guest: Hi. My 15 year old son has a retainer that has a couple of fake teeth in the front cause of an injury he had.
Me: Okay....
Guest: To make a long story short, it's at the bottom of Paradise Bay.
Me: How did it get there?
Guest: Well, we were riding on the Sun Wheel, and he took his retainer out to see if it would fit through the safety cage. I guess it fit.
Me: Right.

In these situations it's always best to emphathize with the guest. Often, we feel the need to act defensively or in a manner which is not conducive to a positive environment. If the guest is dealt with in the wrong manner it could lead to further problems down the road. If I was the guest relations person I would simply say "Ma'am, thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. I am very sorry that your young son turned out to be a complet asstard. I am sure it is difficult to justify the 5 dollars you spent on churros to sustain his life this morning not to mention the 300 dollars for the retainer he so carelessly dropped. Perhaps I can offer some sage council? GET LOST. NEXT!!!!

I'm not sure, but if I remember correctly, we made a phone call to the SCUBA Divers. I don't know what ever happened, but I doubt she got it back. She spent $1,500.00 on it, so it was worth the time trying to get it back I guess.

The question is, did she *really* want it back after being in that water? :)

Hell yeah! If I were her, I'd take it, still dripping wet, and slam it back into her kid's mouth! Then tape his mouth shut for an hour!
.....uh, that seems harsh..... ummm, .... then she'd kiss him!

that is like when guest decide to put their hand in the canal on book and they wash their kids face of try to drink it. I have seen them try it with the little water run on tarzans treehouse. I would be asking them not to do that for the ducks use it as their bathing area. considering when you ride on book all you see is giant ducks on little houses.
