Anybody who is a Dilbert fan understands what I mean by the title of this thread...
I find it's one thing when guests make you look like an idiot and don't care, but it's another thing entirely when it's a fellow Cast Member.
If you know Innoventions at all, you know that all the doors on the first floor are entrances and all the exits are on the second floor. We tell the guests this about a hundred times but that doesn't stop them from showing up at one of the downstairs doors thinking it's the exit.
Cast members are allowed to use these doors to exit because we know where they lead us (rotating building, ya know) but we're only supposed to use them when the doors are lined up with backstage. Otherwise, we end up walking out the door in full view of guests, and that's not good show.
Today I was at our usher position just after a ring show started, when I saw a group of about four guests come up to the door. I was just about to tell them the exits were upstairs when a fellow CM stepped right in front of them, opened the doors, and walked right out into the middle of our platform without even bothering to acknowledge the presence of the guests. This, of course, left me with the unfortunate task of telling these guests who can clearly see the park out in front of them that these doors were not, in fact, the exit. (You have to jump rails or cut through the filled portion of the queue to get out from the platform.)
When I was sending the rotation about a half hour later, I just so happened to be bumping the same CM and mentioned something about it. Politely, I thought, but made sure to communicate that it's not a good idea to walk right out the door in front of guests and leave another CM to deal with the guests. The CM just said "we can exit wherever we want" and walked away, without even bothering to understand what I was actually trying to say or even meet me halfway.
ARGH! It's frustrating as hell having to deal with fellow CMs who just can't understand that the friggin' universe doesn't revolve around them.
