Parents Say The Darnest Things

I dedicate this thread to the parents who say the darnest things to their kids, TO THEIR CHILDREN, their own flesh and blood!!!

Earlier today, I was playing in the park as a guest before work. I was near the smoking section in New Orleans Square when I heard a mother say to her young boy, about 5 or 6, "You don't need a smoking break, do you?" What the hell went through her mind when she said that??

Color me guilty, but I've actually said something like that to my boys. We were checking into a restaurant, the host or hostess asks "Smoking or Non-smoking," and we reflexively reply "Non!" since none of us smoke. Then I turned to my then-10- and 8-year-old sons and ask, "You weren't planning on smoking, were you?" Chalk it up to my warped sense of humor, but it did get a laugh from them and others around us.

I can only hope that's what that young mom had in mind.

some people dont get some jokes while others get them quickly and others will never get a joke unless they were there

Along the same lines, I've lost count of the many basic grammatical errors (yours/your's, their/there/they're, its/it's) I've counted on public school signs!!! Scary.

My Mom loves these kinds of jokes and uses them all the time so I see nothing wrong with them. Only now that I am older the jokes just get weirder to say in public.

Alec Baldwin was on Letterman a while ago and the conversation got around to kids. He said his daughter had a Hispanic nanny. He also said that he was getting an American nanny soon. When Letterman asked why, Baldwin replied that he while watching TV with his daughter, she pointed at the screen and said,"What he's doing?"

Daughter "Mom, is this show in 3D?"

This happened in ToonTown at WDW , about 5 years ago.

Chip & Dale & Pluto were all in the same "room" signing autographs, pictures etc.

There is a "greeter", to watch the characters. At the time , the Greeters used to wear a big radio pack, on the hip, to let the Operations people know when they need more guest to be let in the room.

Well, On Really Smart Dad, told his family this story:

"See them there people ( greeters) those are Imagineers , I saw it on the Discovery Channel" That is a remote control that she is wearing, she can tell them (characters ) what to do. They are called animatronics ( the characters),
She controls them by that remote thing".

I think I laughed out load. I was either Chip or Dale.

We all pretended to be robots.
