Space Mountain will re-open Spring 2005 ... yes 2005

Dear God are some of these people dumb or what. After the closure of Space Mt. for it's 2 year rehab, there were a couple of us standing out there in wonderful PR shifts... My all time favorite was someone asking me "Is the Ride going to open today?" So I replied, "no, we're scheduled to open in the Spring of 2005" then they asked "will it be open later tongiht?" once again I replied "No, we are going to reopen Spring of 2005." Still confused, they went to the next cast member who told them to return in 30 minutes. I did see my fair share of stupid guests those days and after hearing so many "I CAME ALL THE WAY FROM..... FOR THIS RIDE!" I started to reply with the "well you can always come back in 2 years." or If they said that they came from Flordia, I would ask if they knew that there was a Space Mountain in Flordia.

This is now become one on the things I dread hearing everyday. "I came all the way from....to ride Space." People aren't happy when you tell them that is closed until 2005 to make sure it is safe to ride. In fact today i had one man tell me he didn't care if the ride was unsafe he just wanted to ride it and we had to mopen it right now for him because he was (big surpise) a PREMIUM ANNUAL PASSHOLE!!!!!!!! Better yet he had been in the park 3 times since the ride closed and was only now complaining. GRRR!

Try making up a blatantly untrue story and stick to it ;)
"I'm sorry sir, but Mickey has reserved the whole attraction for a private party for the next two years. As you can guess, when Mickey gives an order, we listen. I'm sorry sir, but there's nothing we can do. You can visit him in his house at ToonTown and file a complaint if you'd like."

I like that one :pbjtime:
I'm sorry sir, due to the current alignment of Jupiter and Venus, the sun seems to be dispersing an inordinate amount of gamma rays. These rays react with the insulation in our space mountain attraction in such as manner as to cause large boils to randomly appear on our guests behinds. This affliction is known in laymen's terms as "pain in the ass". I'm afraid I can't let you ride for fear you may develop into a bad case of pain in the ass....wait, did you already ride?

I have always favored "If you are unhappy with the price of admission today please see my boss. You know the 5 foot mouse in a tuxedo." It usually shuts people up :P

Actually, I always referred people to Minnie, on the assumption that she was secretly running the whole organization and just using Mickey as a PR puppet to distract the world from her devious plans.

Yeah, we always loved that one on the West side. If we had a 101 in the afternoon, some of the guys would ask the p-o'd guest if they'd been there all day, usually get a positive reply and then retort with "well, where were ya all day?! The ride broke down 15 minutes ago - why didn't you come here earlier if you came all the way from ---?"

Fun replys for Space

Ok, so after being moved away from my home... I heard some other cast member replys to why space was closed... I think the funniest one I heard was from the cast member that voices STICH in INNOVENTIONS. Apparently a guest asked Stich why Space was closed and Stick told him that he did it cause he was mad and went on a rampage in the mountain.
I personally enjoyed telling people that "we are ripping of the backside of the mountain and gutting out the chewy, gooey nougat center."

Working at the Disneyland Information Board at the end of Main Street is fun. Guests come up to us after the park first opens and tells us, "We came all the way from.....so that we could ride the ride." My response, "Well sir, how about if we refund your tickets for you. Just so you know, you'll be escorted out the park after we've completed the refund." I have yet to have someone take me up on that offer. :D
