I really don't know how you all do it! I never really paid attention to the weird guests at WDW til our last trip (I stumbled on stupidguesttricks before the trip, so perhaps I was more aware on purpose :p )

Our trip went in to the cheerleaders dates, and let's just say I was soooo happy I didn't work for Disney and have to put up with those gals and that we were soon going home (never thought I would be happy to leave Disney, lol, but the groups we encountered were so rude!)

Prior to the cheerleaders though, it seemed that though there weren't big crowds, there were sure some rude guests :(

We were eating at Chef Mickey's, and this woman at another table kept trying to talk to (read: badger the heck out of) the wait staff while they were speaking to other guests at other tables -- she was so rude. I couldn't help but chuckle when she kept raising and wildly waving her hand to get their attention after one courageous soul told her she would be with her when she was done helping the people she was speaking to.

I am leaning toward feeling for the poor bus drivers the most though -- it seemed no matter what they did, they couldn't win -- they were getting blamed for the wait time (I guess some expect the busses to magically appear at the stop as soon as a guest gets there), for the bus being full and having to stand, not allowing others on til the disabled person was in safely, etc. THen there was the group of girls who decided to stretch their legs across the seats so others couldn't sit down and ignored the driver when he asked them not to (even the mom told him NO, they walked a lot, they could sit any way they chose  ! I was shocked ... they remained that way) and the man a couple days later who yelled out "you missed my stop!! I am staying in THAT building!" He expected the bus driver to stop closer to his building to spare the walk  The same guy, after being told that the drivers stop at the designated stops only, asked "and how much do you make? Not as much as me!" Ummm, perhaps that guest can use his income to buy manners :(

Or maybe the cms who were getting yelled at by park-goers who weren't resort guests and wanted to get in to the park for the morning extra magic hours :(

I don't know how you all do it. Soooo sorry there are nutties out there. I was irritated and I only had a snippet here and there ... I can't imagine having to force a smile through it all ... I'd be the waitress pummeling rude guests with plates or the driver tossing people off the moving bus :p I guess I shouldn't apply any time soon, huh ;)

:piano: <= This is me doing a happy dance!

Thank you so much for being one of those understanding Guests who make my day. I wish more people would understand what we go through on a daily basis. Yes the pay is low, but many of us love what we do, and we dont deserve what we get sometimes. Big hugs to you and your family. Thank You it is nice to hear things like this once in a while :lovers:

I have to say, I totally agree with the OP. I have been reading this board for a few days now and had to register. I cannot believe how much you guys have to put up with! I swear, I will try my best never to be a stupid guest!

And OP, I would have had to tell those girls and their mothers exactly what I felt about them putting their feet up on the bus! My ex-husband got into it with a teenager on a bus because he was sitting and didn't offer his seat to a single mom with 2 kids. He didn't even ask him, he just said "young man, you need to get up and offer your seat to that lady - learn to be a gentleman". He did.

tjmouse, could sure use your ex husband & his comment when I'm tired @ night standing on the Cast shuttle trying to hold on to above hand straps. Some night am sure I'll crash onto a seated teen :o: . Kidding aside... THANKS for your positive words! Guests such as you refocus C Ms & give us hope as we head into Springbreak & the summer.

Tell you what, I am glad that a couple of other guests have posted here. I do not work for Disney, though I may when I retire. I can't believe the number of people out there that think they are THE ONLY PEOPLE AT DISNEY! They expect everything to be catered to them. They bitch when things don't go their way. The people who are the worst are the people who are not prepared or educated about how you do Disney. They complain when they can't get a seat at CP or that no one told them what fastpass was... hello, do your homework, morons! lol

I for one am glad that CM's are there with a smile. I pay a lot to go on vacation, but that does not give me the right to be an ass to people who work there!

Keep up the good work!

Duds

I've had some total idiots inhabit public transit buses as well.

One day where the bus was getting pretty full, this one *genius* thinks that his binder is entitled to its very own seat. He also strecthed his leg out across the seat as well, taking up 3 whole spaces. So being the smart-ass I am, I prepare to sit my big ass down right on his binder and just before I hit it, the *genius* pulls it away.

FINALLY!!! Of only guests think like that!! They don't know what we have to deal with! We are not paid that much anyways!! They think when they pay a whole bunch of money, they can do whatever they want. but it only pays for their admissions INTO the park, nothing else.

That's when you do what another poster did - just start to sit down, and see how fast those poor, tired legs move out of the way.

I also love the ones who sit down in the middle seats of a threater show, when the CMs are telling them to move all the way over to the end. It's a shame that I end up stepping on each and every foot as I am making my way past them. ;)

If you think the guests are bad at WDW, that's nothing compared to DCL! We've taken 49 Disney cruises and have gotten to know many of the CMs. I've also noticed that because they are a) in service positions and b) from other countries, many guests think they can treat them like slaves. They lambast the CMs and treat them as inferiors...man, I'd like to choke those guests! If they took the time to talk to the CMs, they'd see that many are probably more educated than themselves. For example, in chatting with one of our stateroom hosts, my husband once discovered that the host was actually a highly educated engineer who had been involved with construction/maintenance on the ship. But he could actually make more money as a stateroom host, due to tips. I'll bet most of the haughty guests don't have an engineering degree...you have no right to treat someone as inferior because of what they do or where they come from.

I also hate it when they jump all over a CM for enforcing the rules (for example, the "But my kid is SPECIAL and doesn't have to follow the rules" mothers who have a stroke when junior gets kicked out of the adult pool). I know those are the kind of peple who probably bitch to Guest Services, so I make it a point to note the CM's name and turn in a compliment on the very same incident.

Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now, but seeing the CMs treated badly is a real pet peeve of mine. After so many cruises, I consider many of them to be my friends, and I hate seeing "Ugly Americans" acting like jerks to them.

And as others have said, finding this site has made me much more aware of how guests act at WDW...including myself! We live in Celebration, so we're right "next door" and visit the parks a lot. I try very, very hard not to be a passhole!
