Ok so who was on GC on Saturday the 10th? Park was at capacity they were not letting anyone in even with a handstamp. Why do you think this was? Hmmm...

4 marching bands. 1 was Diamond Bar another Etiwanda two LARGE bands with LOTS OF performers. Second we had 500 dancers/cloggers for a pre-parade. I usually don't mine the bands and what not but we really need to limit the number of guest groups over the holidays. The marching bands are usually ok because not every performer's parents are there. Just the band moms and dads. But the dance groups where its 500 people yeah everyone had someone in that group and they show up at 7pm (plaza/hub was full at 7 the dancers stepped off at 7:15) demanding a spot for the parade because their kid was dancing.

-sigh- Oh well who's ready for Christmas/New Years? I've been banished back to my attraction.

Come work at Disneyland where we are so understaffed we have DCA, Parking, Security, Hotels, Travel Company and Stores doing GSO shifts.

my favorite part of all of this is how they've been trying to make guest control a trained location... not happening any time in the forseeable future... unless they make it a part of traditions.

I don't like it one bit, parades and Fantasmic! is being trained location, just like Fantasyland Theather!!! Fantasmic! and parades are not getting an OG, and Fantasmic! is "supposely" getting CDS???

As GSO getting help from DCA, I heard that DCA cast members do a better job at GC better then us?!?!?! UNPOSSIBLE!!!! The managers even complimented them!!!

Fantasmic! has an OG so does Parades. In terms of CDS on Fantasmic! its gonna be a clock in/clock out thing only. But I think GC should be a 1 day class. I am not bashing any of the help we are getting on GC, a lot of the DCA kids have taken to GC at Disneyland like a fish to water others don't. Same goes for our kids, some are good at GC others don't belong out there. What is horrible now is we are so understaffed all the good GC kids are stuck on their attractions because that has a prority for staffing.

The new schedule? 4 days opening Pooh, 1 day opening Mansion (I've never opened Mansion) and 1 parade shift. All I ask is they put me on Parades Christmas Day and New Years Eve.

I am also back to being banished to my attraction!!!

I was wondering if what I put was just Fantasmic!, parades and Special Events on my availability sheet, if that would all I get?? It is all about playing the Scheduler's game to get what we want.

I've done GC with some outstanding DCA folks. On one particular day back in May when I got really sick from overwork doing Entrances, it was my DCA partner that picked up the slack for me.

It's been a while since I've done GC at DCA, though, but usually when I did I found that I became a de facto leader whenever the actual lead wasn't around because most of the people doing GC there didn't have much experience with it. And generally they didn't have any experience with the very crowded parades like we get at DL.

My take on this -- when staffing DCA parades, I figure they usually take the DCA CMs with the least seniority for the same reason they used to send all the lowest seniority people from DL to the Parade of the Stars. But this summer once they started giving lots of overtime, people with much more seniority from DCA came to work in DL. And many of those people had lots of experience with the crowds of DL.

I am amazed how rainy, cold, and wet, it is, they still manage to wanting to perform on the parade route before the parade, or the cavalcade!!!
