Removal of Disneyland Hotel signs

We were told this week that the two remaining "Disneyland Hotel" neon signs would be taken down because of Anaheim city ordinances prohibiting signs of that size and height. The one on the Sierra Tower was taken down during DTD construction several years ago, the one on Bonita Tower was taken down yesterday and painted over today, and the one on Marina Tower is supposed to come down soon.
My question is, the Anaheim Hilton, Marriott, Coast Hotel, and Radisson all have signs higher and roughly the same size as the DLH Bonita Tower sign, not to mention the PPH and ToT. Why aren't all those buildings required to take down their signs?
